Re: Pseudo-3d backgrounds

Pseudo-3d backgrounds

I've got a planned fight scene taking place in a round room, and I want to make it look as though the "camera" is panning and rotating. Now, I could create a custom engine which supports full 3d backgrounds, but that's a lot of hassle just for this one little thing. So I was wondering if i...

Re: Beginning; how do you cope with it?

I sometimes feel that the flashback/forward can be pretty overused too.
I like to start the minimum amount of time possible before the defining event of the story. And I like to give the reader the minimum amount of information necessary to understand what's going on.

Re: Game Makers! I'm curious? What grinds your gears???

When I spend ages getting something to work, only to discover that there was an easier way all along. When I have to search through thousands of lines of directx code to find a misplaced curly bracket. Any time I have to use Visual Basic. If there was ever an example of how not to create a programmi...

Re: Collection of Stock Photos

Yeah, I did some reverse image searching, and I found a good few appearing on pixiv and other sites with no indication that they're allowed for any kind of use.

Favourite/Least Favourite Genres

Like the title says, I'm curoius to know what most people here have as their favourite and least favourite genres. My favourite genres are fantasy and sci-fi. I love the imagination and world-building that goes into that type of story. My least favourite genre is romance. For me, romantic conflict s...

Re: Hardest step when drawing.

Everything. By which I mean to say, keeping my motivation up to do everything properly. If I've spent a long time doing sketching and lineart, I don't feel like spending a long time on the colouring. Or if I've spent ages shading the hair beautifully, I don't want to spend ages shading the clothes. ...

Re: "Movie" VS "Episodes" Your opinion?

It depends on what kind of story you want to tell. Some stories lend themselves better to being told all in one go, others to being told in episodes. If you're planning on splitting a story up into episodes, you should ask yourself "Does each of these episodes stand on its own as a story?"...

Re: The editing process

I will admit, I'd be that one person who, once finished, would be all "ugh, I don't even want to look at it." That's generally a sign that you really need to edit it. The less you want to look nat it, the more editing it needs. (Note: I'm not saying your writing is bad by any manner or me...

Re: What TV Show fandoms are you in?

QI - Hilarious, and I've learned so much from it.
Moone Boy - Brilliant brilliant comedy, and it's set in my hometown.
Sadly, most of my favourite shows aren't airing any more, but I do my best to never miss the Dad's Army reruns on Saturdays.

Re: Character Archetype Survey

I don't like any of those types very much at all.

I much prefer the goofy type, the troll/teasing type, the shy/loner type, the older brother/sister type, and the creepy type.

Re: How do you play VNs?

I'm slightly off topic, but you would hate playing Skyrim... it is impossible to get 100% in one file without hacking it. D: Pokemon was bad enough! So... many... must... collect... shinies... Aargh! Oh, and another thing I forgot about, I like playing the more plot-heavy routes first. That way I k...

Re: I want to improve

Thank you everyone for the replies. I'm sorry if I sound ungrateful at all, because I really am very grateful. And sorry for taking so long to reply back, things've been a bit hectic lately. (When are they ever not?) Clearly I still have a lot of work to do to get my art to an acceptable quality. I ...

Re: How do you play VNs?

I am a terrible, terrible completionist. Every game I've played, I try to get every possible thing that's in it. Not just VNs, every game . When I'm playing VNs, I usually go for the most appealing route first, then the least appealing second, followed by any and all others in order of least -> most...
