Re: On Media [Educational] [Not Anime] - (Updated Feb. 3, 20
I think you need subdivisions for each category so you can better address the differences between them. For example, certain types of poetry would have a Still Visual using text to illustrate a picture or an idea. Just as certain visual novels have a spoken element to them. Just as certain plays us...

Re: What is your religion?
If you read the biography of Prophet Muhammad, you'll know what I mean. Let me preface what I am about to say by again stressing that I have no problem with religion in general. But I do believe that immoral deeds must be condemned, no matter who perpetrated them. And to that end, I must ask - What...

Re: What is your religion?
I'm kind of against any religion that spreads or has spread by means of violence. Lecturing people to live as a good person and then killing whoever's not believing in your god is about as hypocritical as it gets I could not have put it better myself. I have no problem with religion, to me they are...

Re: On Media [Educational] [Not Anime] - (Updated 1-31-2012)
I wish I had an answer for that, sorry. I did some searching around for educational game development websites, but couldn't really find any that would be appropriate. You could try posting it to indie game development sites (like Indiegames.com), artist forums and the like, since they sound like th...

Re: What was the first visual novel you played?
I played Fate/Stay Night.
It was severely lacking in many respects, but at the same time, there were some very well-done aspects.

Re: On Media [Educational] [Not Anime] - (Updated 1-31-2012)
Oh, and Kaleidofish, I am glad that to hear that you are excited. Ah, and I would also like to add that most silent movies, if not all, were also narrated by somebody in the theater playing the piano, organ, or other instrument so music does need to be included, but as you have stated with all media...

Re: Why Manga Publishing is Dying
By the way - Whenever someone says that a particular kind of media is about to die, it's best to doubt them. Because understand that that has happened exactly zero times in the history of media. People predicted that radio, magazines, books, comics, and so forth would all die, and that has not yet c...

Re: On Media [Educational] [Not Anime] - (Updated 1-31-2012)
Oh, wow, this looks very interesting. Thank you for sharing and creating this. I look forward to seeing it finished. Are you planning on releasing this project to places other than LSF? I could see this as a media presentation for art schools and the like. Well, I don't know many other places, but ...

Re: What is your religion?
What a coincidence, I've actually been coming up with my own religion recently. It is sort of a combination of Euhemerism, ancestor worship, and classic polytheism. The main idea is that once you die, you are elevated to another plane of existence. There, you can have great powers or great weaknesse...

Re: Why Manga Publishing is Dying
This business model is just sitting there waiting to be seized upon, if only manga publishers would enter the 21st century and embrace technology in adapting their old business models. Yes, but businesses are too resistant to change. It's much easier to blame outside forces for your problems than t...

http://sdsandwiches.com/tesla.png Oh, that's the manga by the fellow that did Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Great author. In fact, I have a theory that he and Edison may actually be the same person. Tesla claimed to have invented an earthquake machine. The 2011 Japanese Earthquake occurred in Hirohiko ...

Re: On Media [Educational] [Not Anime] - (Updated 1-29-2012)
It's a good topic to tackle, but I'm not sure what sort of "deliverable" would represent your work. Do note though that visual novel engines have been used in interactive museum kiosks, tutorials for grade schoolers, even billboard advertisements. They're rarely mentioned in this forum, b...

Re: Why Manga Publishing is Dying
That was a great article with a good point. Manga isn't a cheap and disposable piece of trash, which hurts its adoption. If a medium is going to be ubiquitous it must be cheap, widespread, and disposable. This is necessary for getting people introduced and hooked, for being successful with children...

Interesting story. And it's good to hear it was fake..
But it didn't seem unbelievable though. These big companies can be very litigious. Although the fact that he didn't get a cease and desist-type letter first should have seemed suspicious.

Re: nanashi is sued by Disney for 6000000yen (around 78000US
I don't think nanashi used Mickey Mouse as a parody or some form of commentary. It seems like a throwaway role and unfortunately raised the ire of Disney. Ah. I haven't played the game, so I'll take your word. But I think the current copyright laws are just silly. Fair use should be extended to all...
