I can't speak for anyone else, but what I'm trying to say is that it's possible to make game more appealing to a broader audience without making it less appealing to your target demographic. Sure, it takes a lot of creativity, but creativity seems to be the lifeblood of this community. Hell, this is...

Personally I think this is something that needs to be balanced carefully. There's nothing wrong with focussing on a target audience, and there's nothing wrong with trying to have broad appeal either. The attitudes I think could benefit from adjusting at the ones where people say "I'm making the...

If you want to attract people, you need to make information easier to find. Not expect them to chase you for information. Giving the title of a game and where it's planned to be distributed is not any more helpful than having a blank page. I hope you'll be marketing your game with more effort than y...

Bigger file size means more content. More content implies variety. Variety is appealing. Make your game as big as is needs to be. If it's worth playing, then I'm confident those people with terrible internet connections will be willing to wait a little longer. In Tokyo we can download 1GB in under 4...

I think of Mass Effect as a good example of most things done right. They have a choice of a male or female protagonist. It makes little difference to the gameplay or dialogue, but it still allows players to connect a little easier to the character. Some people prefer the action elements, some prefer...

A 5-10 minute play time is interesting. It's common knowledge that any kind of electronic media needs to grab the consumer's attention within the first 5-10 minutes, so it would be good practice to get people thinking hard about that important part of their game. Regarding an educational game catego...

Why not base it on ratings rather than votes?

At least that way you'll get a more accurate view on the popularity of games regardless of how many people played them.

Wait, you can't unzip a .rpy file?
Do you mean you can't extract it from a zip file, or something else?

Hope you can find some people to help out. Just thought I'd mention that some of us have been using #renpy to go over some ideas and such. As long as you are patient regarding replies (sometimes people are asleep, or AFK for a bit), then generally people are helpful. That's been my experience, at le...
