I have the same problem as jack_norton - using Windows Vista (SP1, Home Premium, german) as well.
On my OpenSuse11.1 i686, everything I tested worked well.

Perhaps the translations page should be more prominently linked? You mentioned some box to the left like the "languages" on Wikipedia... if it was possible to include country/language-symbols, that should be prominently enough for now. The other idea was to have a hint right on the downlo...

I'll consider using gettext with Ren'Py from now on. That should make it possible to translate error messages and the like.
