I encountered the same problem. Its a bug. You just have to click into the empty space under or above the wrong answer (give the explosives) and you will give him the crystal instead. The art was beautiful, the heorine wasn't terribly anime-cliché, and the guys were fine, but for me what really sold the story was... well, the story.
