Re: Seat of Power – A WW2 VN (All Ages) (DRAMA/POLITICS)
Love the initial sketches and the plot sounds like it has a ton of potential. Now, on to the main question - should your VN have a happy ending? From a story point of view, it will be yes if the strength of the story comes from a happy ending, and no of the strength of the story comes from tragedy. ...

Am I good enough to write a VN or should I hire a writer?
Based on your first passage, I'd read it. do it.

Re: How to deal with the Media - Do's and Don'ts
That's very helpful indeed! As a direct result of your advice, I'm definitely going to include the best promotional artwork we can muster up, when it comes to emailing people. :) It sounds like going for the "unique storyline" thing may be a little more on the difficult side. I understand ...

Re: How to deal with the Media - Do's and Don'ts
Barzini, thanks so much for the advice! It's awesome that you're sharing this info with the community. I was just curious about the "Unique Features" part from your advice on formatting media releases. VNs generally don't have a ton of features per se, so do you think it would be pertinent...

Re: Have chords, wrote melody, sounds atrocious
Just one tip that could be useful. As a general rule, the melody and chord sound good together when the melody is a note that is part of that chord. For example, let's say you've got the C major chord. If you hit any of C, E, G, then the melody will sound "correct". But how you get to that...

Re: Fungus (open source IF / VN program)
Original poster on the subreddit here! As mentioned on the topic in the subreddit, I stumbled across Fungus while looking for a free cross-platform VN engine (since Ren'Py didn't support iOS). I'll also report back here when I do make something with it. It looks really, really promising. I should me...

Re: Critique on a short part of my story
Oops, my bad, didn't mean to edit the edit! I see your point, Mad Harlequin. I perfectly agree with you and I think it was certainly good of you to edit rather than take someone else's story; I also agree on balancing (rather than overdoing) 'don't show don't tell' and not being descriptive for the ...

Re: Critique on a short part of my story
It's kinda interesting and it looks like the protagonist is set up to change quite a lot during the course of the story. Personally, I think that it's a bit hard to like the hero, despite him being set up to be likable. And the entire thing is a little quick. It'd be good to be able to see what kind...

Re: Research help- Medical/Psychological advancement
Wow, I never thought the day would come. I just happen to be a med student. Ask away. :) I'll tell you what I know, at least about the Australian medical system. EDIT 1: I'd also like to know how far we've come in terms of psychological research and how much we understand the human mind, so those wo...

Re: Would love some critique
This isn't bad, but I feel some of the internal narration cuts into the interaction between Masaru and Chiyo too much. You don't need to indicate that it's narration, either. I kept the character indicators for your convenience since this is part of a planned VN. I also think that Masaru and Chiyo'...

Would love some critique
Hi all, just made a quick first draft of a scene in my VN. In one sentence, the VN is about a man named Masaru who can summon anything but is mute (so summons cards to talk) and how his life changes after a playful girl named Chiyo initially mocks his disability but then offers to help him. I've act...

Pitfalls and what you've learnt about writing
For the experienced writers of this community, I have two questions: 1. What pitfalls have you fallen into/that you will now actively avoid in writing? 2. In writing, what are the greatest things you have learnt about writing something GREAT? I'm a new writer seeking to learn on the go on this VN wr...

Re: Emofuri?
I was really impressed by Live2D sprites once-upon-a-time but Emote is just so much better looking. Currently the major advantage of Live2D is that it's free for indies, for now. It's used by some pretty big companies. But I'd much rather pay for Emote because it looks more natural.

Re: Emofuri?
Nice one Sonya! EmoFuri is pretty cool right? Just in case anyone was wondering about an English version, I mailed the E-mote team (with English + Japanese Google Translated , haha) and this is the response from them: Hello! Thanks for your inquiry, and we're glad to see interest in E-mote and Emofu...
