Re: How to communicate with composers?
One of the main issues when hiring a composer to create songs for a project is communication. This and the fact that people can describe the same exact sound in various ways, sometimes even with contradictory descriptions doesn’t help the situation. Some people simply can't find the words, or afraid...

Re: PC builds/OS talk/questions
intel core i7 CPU @ 2.6ghz 8GB RAM, 64 bit operating system, and I only have the 1 large HDD, I'm thinking adding a SSD might help? As for graphics I believe I have a GeForce GTX 1070 Given the specs you provided, I find it odd that you are having trouble at all. The i7 core should handle what you'...

Re: PC builds/OS talk/questions
it would probably help to know the specs of your current laptop rig to best know what you can do to get better use of it. If it's a gaming rig as you stated, you really might only need to update your ram. You would be surprised how much a difference that can make. It could also be your cpu processor...

Yep, the USB version of the at2020 usually goes for around $100. Good luck with your purchase and voice acting.

Too bad about the closets. T.T Perhaps creating a vocal booth could be a thing. Normally they're really nice. Like this. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/91/f2/72/91f272ce82624c605ecb0f74b7d1e88c.jpg Instead you could make one out of cardboard and attach padding on the inside. Or at the very least cre...

Re: Everyone suggests Snowball and Blue Yeti, but... (More questions here)
Your questions answered first. 1. Yes you record into your software. So if you have a usb mic, you connect it via USB to your computer, then within the recording software, such as audacity, or reaper (another great alternative), you hit record, a mouse click, or space bar and whatever you speak into...

Re: How to make background music for visual novels
You’ve asked a very general and open ended question. It's akin to asking a artist how they paint. Rather then go into crazy detail, I’ll give you a brief overview. You will need 5 things. 1 .Software 2 .Hardware 3 .Music Theory Knowledge 4 . Mixing Knowledge 5 . Experience from Practice 1. For the s...

it sounds like a heavily gated source to me. I was actually able to somewhat recreate it on my end. https://tinyurl.com/yal3jn9a https://tinyurl.com/y8cdfvlr I probably could get closer to the original with some fine tuning or can even create some cool variations by tweaking the settings. Try gating...

Re: What is the best way to learn musical theory and rhythm?
Books are your best friends. Especially if you know nothing about music theory, even the basics, like reading notes, or understanding time signatures. With some research you can buy beginner books that will cover all the basics. From there you can delve into other books that go into deeper explanati...

Re: Price Estimate Request
Since no one has responded, what you're looking for can range anything from the spectrum of free to $1000 per minute of music. It's common for most composers to charge per minute of music so it'll be likely that this is the standard by what you'll be charged. Of course you can also be charged by pro...

Re: Should I use guitar recordings or virtual instruments?
If authenticity is your goal then a live recording is your answer. There are some instruments which vst just can’t replicate and guitar is one of those. There are simply way too many factors and nuances that go into an actual guitar performance that vst can’t make up for. And as a guitarist it’s pre...

Re: How do you have the commitment?
Unless you are very fortunate, most people don’t have the luxury of immense amounts of time to do what they want to accomplish. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes having too much free time will cause you to procrastinate, or lose focus. Hence the upside off being on a time crunch.. It’ll ...

Re: How long should it take to make a song?
If you define a simple background song, like those you usually find in VN’s, as in containing minimal instruments (1 to 4), and a duration of anywhere for a minute to 2 minutes long, then I would say you’re length of completion is adequate. One could say, it’s pretty fast if you are including record...

Re: How do you Collaborate with Musicians?
IMO, references tracks are a great way to communicate what you want from a musician. It’s something I always ask for when composing an OST or a song for any type of multimedia. But specifically for games, it takes a lot of the guess work out. Simply pick out a song that you feel delivers the emotion...
