Should I go about writing a VN as I would a novel? Or should I write it like a screenplay? With choices of course! I'm a published novelist, and I write my Visual Novels with a free Mind-Mapping program; FreePlane . Play writing, screenwriting, or ordinary fiction writing simply cannot accommodate ...

Waaaa! Pretty! Those are most definitely gorgeous and the painter-like colours and scenery remind me of the art my seniors in the Art class do. (Kids these days are talented!) These are wonderful, something I'd definitely use to represent something. I'm glad you like them. I hope you put them to go...

To sum up... ⋅ Decide on a Story Problem. ⋅ Decided on 3 possible ENDINGS. ⋅ Create 3 Crises Scenes to offer the player Choices to get to each Ending. ⋅ Decide how many and what kind of characters are needed. OokamiKasumi, do you just branch off after the 3rd...

...But there's the thing, I just can't think of what to add besides get the girl/don't get the girl routes. Does anyone have any tips for creating stories? I've tried making flowcharts but they're pretty much a straight line from beginning to end. I have no idea what to add in between to add some m...

The key to the problem as an ImageMap is to use the Largest image of all three (Hover, Selected, Idle...) for your coordinates. The HOVER image is clearly the largest, so use the HOVER image when you record your X, Y, etc... coordinates for your hotspots. Also! -- Put enough SPACE above and below to...

I used some of your BGs for a VN game I made ^^ It was so hard finding something that fit the game well D: Here's the link if you want to check it out: http://kunikai.itch.io/happily-together-after It wouldn't have been the same without tbh~ Also, I linked you website on my tumblr as well. http://k...

Oh, this was fun. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Rowan was a guy at first. I played it a few more times, and then Rowan kept on being a girl. Trap indeed. HOW you ask questions and respond to Rowan results in which gender Rowan ends up as. :) And yes, that is exactly how Rowan becomes a Trap. I haven't p...

There was this great tool on the forum somewhere on plotting branching paths... But gosh I just can't find it. If someone knows what I mean please link it for me.

I use FreePlane to plot out my multi-path games.

Beautiful art and impressive use of ATL. It gives the whole game the feeling of watching an animated film. The story was short, but water tight. No extraneous details or dangling plot threads at all. Very impressive for a jump from a comic to a VN. I especially enjoyed the option at the end; it gave...

Thanks for making Trap! It's one of the best examples I've found of good, short Ren'Py interactive storytelling. Thank you so much! I'm really glad you liked the game. I usually find sprites cheesy and distracting to the VN experience, but yours are magnificently done and seamless. I'm glad you lik...

All the background images are missing in version 1.5 Is it only a problem of mine? Because redownloading doesn't work, I can't fix it myself. I would be happy if someone could help. :) My apologies. -- I forgot to test the zipped game before releasing it, so it's entirely my own fault. The problem ...

I really enjoyed the "writing exercise", and though I was somewhat spoiled by having done a similar psychoanalysis writing exercise before, I tried to just ignore all that and write whatever first popped into my head... the relaxing music and subtle visuals definitely helped me do that. I...

I know I'm way behind, but I finally got around to playing your fine VN (after reading your wonderful GUI tutorials). I loved the mix of classical Russian art, music, and folklore with the modern sprites and mechanics! Ohhh, those clothes... very drool-worthy. :-) There were a few times when I thou...
