# config.automatic_images_parts = None # # If this and `config.automatic_images` are not None, this causes Ren'Py # to automatically also define composite images. # # When not set to None, this should be set to a list of strings giving # directories that include images which are parts of composite ...

First of all, concerning that quote from Poe: 1. I already know of this quote, and I could not agree with Poe more strongly on this point. If you did, you'd be Plotting your stories " toward a certain unique or single effect to be wrought out " -- an End. 2. You are taking this quote out ...

I strongly disagree. You seem to be focusing so much on the ending, that you are failing to see what else goes into making a good story. I agree with Late White Rabbit. If you don't have an End, you don't have a story. -- What goes into a story should be characters, events, and circumstances to Rea...

The format I want to use for my VN is one that accommodates two sprites at a time above the textbox. I'm trying to figure out how to "move" the sprite from one side to the other without phasing out, basically "sliding" into place. I'd like to try the search but the words escape ...

I think well-done photo manipulations can yield decent results. I do a combination of both photo editing and 3D, myself. A building might be modeled and rendered, but common trimmings like bushes, trees, and the sky may be cut out and edited from photo sources. Quite a few commercial "Hidden O...

...So, uh, you could remedy that problem by having the artist just... paint over the royalty-free photos? This helps because, well, it looks more drawn, less photo-filtered, removes the grain, and also because the artist will subconsciously make it match their style, which helps with consistency? ....

Filtered photos are alright if they are consistent, well edited, and don't contrast too much with character art. Traditional backgrounds really depend on the artist, but can also have issues with contrast in regards to character art. I'm in agreement here. -- The art style for the backgrounds and t...

...Put simply, I'm wondering about how everyone feels about using photos that have been filtered to look more "cartoonish" or like water-color paintings vs actual CGs. ... The question is about filtered photos in general, not one particular style. I use filtered photos extensively, if not...

I must say, that's a very vintage-looking test project xD Thank you! -- I was playing around with some Public Domain Regency era illustrations. It still works with a clean, untouched script, maybe it's the other cookbook scripts you've added on forcing it back there? I have no idea. It's possible, ...

Seriously? I actually tested these and it worked for me ._. You can actually move them around too... see, if you had in the code style.window.xpos = 500 style.window.ypos = 150 it would move over to the right a few pixels: Oddly, this does indeed work in an 800x600game. However, when I use it in a ...

Yes, VN's let you explore different ways a story can play out, but that doesn't change what I'm trying to say; that is, you shouldn't create a story with the end already known (and then forcibly cause the story to follow that route). Instead, I would say to write it "one word at a time," ...

You need to define the xpos (x position) and ypos (y position), in pixels, of your textbox in the Options script file. ######################################### ## These settings let you customize the window ...blah blah, etc. ## add in these style statements: style.window.xpos = 400 #this is what ...

I'm having trouble messing around with the choice menu buttons. I know how to get rid of the button background/frame and change the font, but that's it.
