Re: Ideas to make a more mainstream VN

Yeah, a lot of the time people don't know what a visual novel is- even the most hardcore anime fans may not know them; when I've mentioned them before people usually ask "Oh, you mean comic books?" I'm planning on advertising my games as "choose-your-own romance games" to people ...

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^

@redeyesblackpanda: I really like her hair style! I can see that you need to work on learning to draw bodies, though. The quickest way to do that is learn proportions and some realistic anatomy, it'll help a lot. If you can, try to find some human anatomy for artist books to study. Also, here's a tu...

@DragoonHP: Thank you so much for posting these... It's so nice to see someone post a solid argument like that, the articles are really eye-opening (though not entirely surprising, a lot of the disadvantages to males in western culture should be obvious...). There was also a bit in the first article...

Re: Do you like GxB or BxG?

I just really don't like the stereotypical slice-of-life school plots that seem to consist of 90% of the OELVN GxB. Maybe after it develops further I won't be so hostile towards it, but right now a lot of the titles comes across to me as rather generic, which naturally decreases the draw of it to m...

Re: In-Game Menus

You don't need to put your descriptions in spoiler tags, it's hard to read. (and, not really a spoiler) ^^;

Also I wish I had the answer to this question, it looks like a nice way to present choices.

Very beautiful pieces you have there! :D I especially like "Let me show you my band saw", it's catchy! I'll keep you in mind if I need some composing in the future. ;)

Re: Jobs

@Kura, Naw, chemistry is just a class I have to take for my major (nursing/medical stuff) ^^; I'm really not interested in it as my career, hence the "(not)" after.

Those sound like very interesting pancakes indeed. :D

Re: Katawa Shoujo released

I think Misha is more questionable... I remember in Lilly's route it was mentioned that anyone can join the school, it's just tailored to people with disabilities. Maybe it's only mentioned in that route, though. Also, there's been speculation that Misha may actually have ADHD or dyslexia, though, ...

Re: Music Creation Resources?

How would free music resources not be useable by pros? A tool's a tool, though free resources usually don't have the advanced features that a true music pro would use. Anyways, I was thinking about suggesting a sticky for these resources too. In particular, Aviary's programs are nice: http://advance...

Re: Katawa Shoujo released

Just finished Lilly's route, it was really beautiful. If I was a man I'd totally marry a woman like Lilly... <3 Anyways, about the criticisms of the game- particularly Taleweaver's criticisms- I really don't think it should be taken so seriously. As it's been said over and over again, the writing is...

Re: Using ripped/audio files from another game.

Using another game's music is pretty lame, especially when the quality of the game the person has made doesn't even come close to the quality of the game the music came from. I've played RPG maker games with epic music and poor visuals and story writing, it's really tacky. Oh, and, yeah, it's illega...

Re: Which is better?

You probably won't be very successful drawing on the computer if you can't draw on paper first. A computer program is only a tool to help you draw faster with less mess. :D If you have a slower computer, Sai is the way to go. It's a lot cheaper and won't lag on you. There's a free version of Sai cal...

Re: A visual novel with metal music.

As long as it doesn't distract from the text, sure! I like more intense music myself :D You can most likely find some free music to use on Jamendo. Here's a search for metal music that you can use in your project: http://www.jamendo.com/en/tag/metal?license_minrights_d=on&location_country=all&am...

Re: Name Dump

Moved this topic to Skill Development, since it's about developing character names. :D My advice is to find names that mean something about your character. For example, if one of your characters was born in winter and has a cool, reserved attitude, you may name them something that relates to ice or ...

Re: Gold Coin [VN GxB] [FRENCH VERSION RELEASED]

Just to remind you guys, it's best to talk about non-game related things (like learning French) through PMs or other private ways of communication. Comments in a game thread should be about the game, if you have something else you'd like to talk about it's best to do it privately. :)
