I recommend anything by John Le Carre. The man is a fantastic writer.
In particular, get The Spy Who Came in from the Cold. It's the novel that brought him international recognition.

Re: Share your attitude/characterisitic :)
I'll let y'all interpret this for me: http://www.personaldna.com/report.php?k ... ddfcb7718f
But yes, I am benevolent, I am an inventor, and I am an empath, as painful as that is at times, so at least the results are accurate.

Re: LemmaTV Writers' Thread
In an attempt at data aggregation, I have begun compiling a list of possible questions, and subsequently the answers to those questions. This post is a work in progress, and will be updated as I finish digging through the information. Also, there is a chance that this post will be moved to another t...

Re: LemmaTV: Television that watches you
I'm going for a post-technology setting (some major event happened and technology broke down to some major extent), where my characters have to build a way out with what scraps of technology they can find.

Re: Default names
Default names. That way I don't have to remember what I called them AND what the game calls them, so I'm not all confused when people start talking to me about the characters. On the off chance that I do change it, like when I've got the names memorized, it'll be one of my many names (Sven, Case, Xa...

Re: 4:3 or 16:9
Personal preference for games is 1280x720 (known as 720p) for 16:9 and 1152x864 for 4:3. HOWEVER(!!!), if you're going to use such high-resolutions, you should probably put in an option to have the game play at 800x600, for anyone not playing on a computer that supports such large resolutions.

Re: What is a heartwarming story?
As far as I can tell, it's an advertising buzzword. As you said, it's a label. I might be wrong, though.

Re: Idea: Lemmasoft Forums VN Project
To keep in compliance: Preferred Role(s): Programming and writing (and while, as I've already said, you're welcome to any music I do unless otherwise stated, I'd recommend against relying on me for it, as there are many other composers here, I'm sure) Core or Chill Member: Either. I've got plenty of...

Re: Question about perception of people based on stated skil
I assume it isn't really true until the show me proof. In most cases, I have shown proof, which is how I got on the team anyway. But your input does help, at the very least in helping to give possibility to my hope that I've just had a bunch of really bad project managers in the past. I've been in ...

Question about perception of people based on stated skills
More or less, as the title says, I have a question about how you perceive someone based on what skills they tell you that they have. For example, if you're recruiting and I say I can do programming, writing, and music, how does that affect how you view what I could contribute to your project? Is the...

Well, I'm in. You have permission to use anything at http://soundcloud.com/blomberg-joshua that you don't feel like keeping isolated for Time Stones, including anything I will compose in the future. I'll also do any coding you need done. And by that I mean any coding, as long as it doesn't require m...

Extra Credits
Penny Arcade's Extra Credits It's been mentioned in a few other threads (as shown by a search for "extra credits"), but I didn't find a thread dedicated to it, so I decided to make one. I think it's one of the better resources for advice on game and narrative design (mostly narrative in g...

Re: Discussion of Demographics of Forum Members
I agree with Cloudy on the Japan point; there are more than a few free/open source VN engines written in Japanese. KiriKiri for one, which, performance-wise, I put on par with Ren'Py, so it would make sense that you'd go for something in your native language.

Technical Questions on Ren'Py Android and x86 Linux
So, I've been wondering, why are there apparently major differences in the capabilities of the Android version and the x86 version of Ren'Py? Is it simply because of a lack of support on the Android end of things (meaning a lack of required features in the Android OS itself) that seems to be limitin...

Re: The hardest but addicting game you ever played
Hmmm.... Going in order of era, the first ones were Ocarina of Time and Goldeneye for the Nintendo 64. Both games still give me considerable trouble on that console. After that, there was Half-Life, and then Half-Life 2, then Portal (episodes 1 & 2 and Portal 2 were just as addictive, but I didn...
