Re: Angry computer nerd rant (for your potential amusement)

Quick update... Paraphrased for brevity and to spare you from having to read excessive amounts of profanity. Him: "The site isn't working. The URLs are broken. Why didn't you use the .htaccess files? You're idiots for not doing what I say." Me: "Stop bothering us. You are a moron. I d...

Re: About Renpy & Android

Then that's what I'd probably end up using, if ever I had design and production to a level where it could be sold (I assume that most people won't want to build one themselves, though, if you do, once mine is done and working, I'll release the schematics and source under some open source license). E...

Re: Different main menu images and persistant variables

I'm actually unable to get your code to work (it keeps giving me an unhandled exception), but I think I found a solution anyway. screen main_menu: # This ensures that any other menu screen is replaced. tag menu imagemap: if persistent.mmbg == "1": ground 'menu/main/mm1.jpg' elif persistent...

Re: About Renpy & Android

I may or may not take an interest in improving the functionality of the Android version, but if I do, it's likely going to be primarily in the form of making a peripheral for the phone/tablet (with many Android devices, you can create USB peripherals that the Android device can use; I'm doing this w...

I like. I like very much. Like Pug said, it's a great retro style.

Re: Do you play as same or opposite gender?

For me, it depends on how it affects the game. If there's something I can only do as one gender - or something which I cannot do - that will generally influence my choice. As I don't play many games in which romance is an issue, that usually doesn't have anything to do with my decision, so it's more...

Re: Different main menu images and persistant variables

@GlassHeart It's possible that you did do something wrong, but I designed the code under the assumption that it was an otherwise stock menu setup, so it's more likely that there's a conflict between the two customizations. Unfortunately, I can't tell you any more without seeing how you have your cod...

Re: Dub or Sub?

Generally, I prefer subs, but there are some dubs which I enjoy as much, if not more, than their originals. The Fullmetal Alchemist dubs were both very good, as have been all of the Ghost in the Shell dubs (for the major characters, at least; that somewhat lispy bartender still gets on my nerves a b...

Re: Different main menu images and persistant variables

Seeing as how this seems like an incredibly useful thing to know, I've decided to write out a nice, easy guide on how to do it. First, open your script and find the "Themes" section of options.rpy. Next, insert this code above it (between the "config.version" line and the line of...

Re: Conventions?

@ririruetoo I'm planning on it this year, it's just that stuff has come up in the past. However, I'm planning on registering here in a few weeks when I have some spending money again, so I don't have any chance of forgetting.

Re: Conventions?

I live in Oregon. MAGfest is in Washington DC. The flight alone is most of the price of going. I also don't know (actually KNOW, not just online acquaintance) anyone who would be attending, which makes rooming with my friends something of an impossibility. This is the curse of living on the west coa...

Re: Conventions?

I've always wanted to go to a con. Tried for Kumoricon, but work came up. Tried for PAX Prime (or whatever they call the one in Seattle), but it sold out before I found out that the tickets were on sale. Tried for MAGfest, but then I realized that it would cost me over $1200 to fly across the countr...

Re: Angry computer nerd rant (for your potential amusement)

UPDATE TIME! We (my friend, who's hosting the site, and I, who's doing the work, as he doesn't know PHP and is considerably more busy than he should be anyway) have decided that the best thing to do is to leave the images where they are and as they are, fix the abomination of a website to the point ...

Angry computer nerd rant (for your potential amusement)

I gotta get this off my chest, and I know there will be at least a few people here who will be able to commiserate with at least part of this. I'm migrating a website from one server to another. If you've never done that, imagine moving a ton of files from the computer of someone you've never met to...
