Hi Ren'Py community,

I'm an aspiring visual novel designer and am happy to meet you all. I'm not much of a fan of Anime nor this gameplay style, but after playing the entire Phoenix Wright series and then having my predispositions of the VN genre shattered by the enormously talented Christine Love (aka Scout) I found myself too inspired to sit still. I'm hoping to practice my skills with the help of the community, and hopefully help others wherever I can, with the goal of writing at least one VN of decent length and quality.

I slapped together my first Ren'Py exercise last night which was a rewarding exercise in design and troubleshooting.

Very much looking forward to meeting and learning from you all.

Cute little game.

The writing was funny and lite.

Congratulations on your first toss into the ring.

Susan

Hehe I really appreciate your positivity and encouragement. I feel sheepish for publishing something so childish now - it was just my first attempt at trying a few commands. This really seems to be a supportive community.

I understand that you made this only to check the programming but I can't see why you posted it in the "Completed Games" section. I think the best place to post this work was the "Skill Development" section.
It would be wrong to call this a VN. A novel is a work of fiction, and there was no story. Just some words making little sense.
Better luck next time.

Relax. He (or she) didn't post this here himself. An admin moved it here from the General Discussion. But you're right that this might not be the best area for it.

asciibard, I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with next. I'm a bit of a VNoob myself. If you ever need someone to bounce random visual novel ideas off of, feel free to message me.

I'm responsible for this thread turning up here; I reported it for being in the wrong corner of our forum. And I think it's not a bad idea if young, aspiring game-makers go public with their works as soon as possible. We are a supportive community, after all.

Exactly. I'm seeing a lot of topics in the wrong section these days.

I'm going to have a second opinion about that. :)
