I like the "hidden" making a VN best. Even though I agree, Weed-Sylvie ish kinda gross. And yes, the vulgarity of Weed-Sylvie is a bit out of the ordenary, but I can somehow understand your motivation to contrast the ex-Sylivie. I started with Ren'Py as she was already into yaoi o_o so I don't know about how much of a prude she originally was...

I am no big fan of vulgarity, but it's a parody. Plus English is my second language, so the US-American implications escape me a little bit. Was the same as I decided to not dub egoraptor's "Metal Gear Awesome 2". He has lots of Jesus, homosexual and black slang related "jokes" in it that are not at all "funny" for me as a German.

It strikes me as considerably odd how on one hand US-Americans generally tend to brag about their so-called "freedom", but say the f-word, or show a female breast and this so-called freedom goes down the drain of some fundementalistic christian religion o_0;

Well, there are basically three versions of The Question.

1. The first one, let's call it "original", is the one that is on the ATP site, and unless it's been replaced with a newer one, it's also the one on renai.us. It's standalone, it doesn't have the Vista patch and it has Derik's character art. In this version, Sylvie is not into sex in VNs, she says she is disappointed when the player chooses to say that a VN has lots of sex.

2. PyTom then tweaked (spellchecked after me :oops: ) that version before adding it to Ren'Py (I call this Ren'Py version) - I believe he added Vista compatibility and also changed Sylvie's reaction to the sex, saying she was into BL, the reason being that as part of renpy the game shouldn't "take sides" and indirectly discourage sex games. (I'm trying to find the thread where this is discussed, hopefully my memory serves me right :? ) This game isn't a standalone distribution, it ships as a project in the renpy distribution.

3. There is a third version (which is in the latest Ren'Py releases), basically it's Nr. 2 with new sprites by Deji, and credits changed accordingly.

In the author's notes, mugenjohncel specifically shows that version Nr.1, where Sylvie is disappointed as being the trigger to create "Alternative" Sylvie ^_^. Anyway, she is into yaoi currently (version Nr.2/Nr.3), but she wasn't originally (version Nr.1) - although as I said, that version is not the one most people will know and play, most people will play the one bundled with Ren'Py (version Nr.2/Nr.3).

Thanks for the info, mikey.

Concerning yaoi I can tell you that on the German animexx roleplay forum yaoi is seemingly "played" in inflationary amounts - obviously by teenage girls... o_0; But to be fair, I occasionally like watching lesbians in action, too =D

Yeah, yeah, it just takes awhile since I'm uploading at 50kbps... Not to mention that my internet connection has a tendency to timeout whenever I'm uploading stuff...

EDIT
Pah, maybe not today... Internet connection being spotty...

Samukun: It happens to you as well? I have no problems with stuff like Sendspace or mediafire, but to upload to the archives it takes me many many tries, most of the time, and it often gets stalled while uploading (which is why I messed with EVE).
I noticed it's less dodgy with IE, but just a bit?

I wonder if there's a way to make it less of a hassle...

I asked Jake why before and the answer involves a lot of technobabble and other smart stuff... From what I know, there's nothing we can do about it. =w=

Quote:
Off the top of my head, one possible reason for this is that you're saturating your line with the upload, and breaking the TCP stack in your router or modem somehow.

An internet connection is basically comprised of two channels - the upstream and the downstream. One sends information to the internet, the other takes information from the internet. The curious thing is that they are commonly different speeds - for regular web browsing you only ever need to send enough information out to request the right page - the URL, your address, any request parameters - and the web server then knows enough to send that data - a much larger amount - down to your computer. So it's quite common for the upstream to be a tiny fraction of the speed of the downstream, because most people don't need to send stuff up.

However, when you're uploading something, say to the RAA, you're using up all of the available upstream for your upload, so there's little space for other traffic. The thing about TCP connections (e.g. those connections to websites, or to download files) is that they are kind of self-aware, they track whether the connection's open or not from end to end by monitoring the packets that go by. Your router will have to convert your single internet IP address into potentially multiple local-network addresses (because you can have more than one PC on the same internet connection) so it has to intercept and translate the TCP connection by a process known as 'NAT'. However, when you're saturating your upstream with a big file upload, sometimes the keepalive packets for other TCP connections (e.g. your requests to other websites) will get lost and those connections will break.

In a robust system, this isn't a problem - it just means that you can't browse the web while you're uploading a big file because you won't get any results (or the response will be very slow). I'm guessing that your router perhaps isn't that robust, though, if the trouble persists after the download finishes - it seems possible that it still thinks it's got these half-open TCP connections and it's refusing to start any more until they've been cleared (this is not an uncommon approach), but for whatever reason it's not marking them as dead and clearing them out. Windows won't be able to report any problem, because as far as it's concerned the connection is between itself and the router, and that connection's working fine - it's the connection between the router and the internet which has the problem.

I have to say in my old RAA days it did the same - lots of broken uploads and very slow. If I had two-three average-sized games, it easily meant having to spend two or more hours with the computer being unable to do anything else on the net. So it's been my experience as well. And sorry for the slight offtopic.

This was surprisingly not as I imagined it :). I actually enjoyed this a lot and laughed as much. Of course there were a few things that were over-the-top, but I think it was *just* within acceptable bounds. The original version might have been too much for me in that regard (extrapolating from this).
I also find amusing how there's as much to see in the Extras than in the regular game :).

Great job on the graphics (so many expressions, incredible backgrounds, and cool animations!) too. I just wish there were some more tunes. The main ones gets on your nerves after a while ^^;

Also, question :
Is the river side background used officially in the game?... I couldn't reach any part with it.

Spoily :
Long haired guy and Lucy hiding behind the bushes is my favorite part of the game I think XD... both for funnies and the fact you had it on a real-time separate timeline.

Oh and... hairy neko paintings don't sell. LIES!

I agree with Monele. I also liked this a lot more than I thought I would, after reading that other thread. It was fun.
And we also share the favourite part of the game xD That made me laugh so much.

Well. There's also the event where when you first encounter Sylvie, there's a box of Dialogue where it doesn't have his name or picture, rather a blue text that says "Me"
