Plot

For fans of Higurashi: When They Cry, Mafiosi: Le Loro Cosa is a kinetic novel about a mafia family known as the Gallos. The story is told through the eyes of the Gallo children, who range from the ages of 6-15, as they become involved in the shady dealings of the family business.

The story begins with the sudden death of the family matriarch, and subsequently spins out of control when her two sons, Gerald and Xander, are put on the defensive, as former partners threaten to take over their collective business ventures for themselves.

Mafiosi is a tale of loyalty and deceit, murder and survival, and both the strength and frailty of familial bonds. This particular novel serves as a prologue to a much longer saga, following the Gallos from childhood to old age as they are pitted against the outside forces of the mafia world, and eventually, each other as well.

This installment of the saga is divided into four parts (=24 chapters total).

Rated 17+ for language, and descriptions of adult situations and violence.



Characters

Kids
Shana Gallo - 12 years old. Oldest daughter of Xander. A caring young girl, wary of her father’s ways.
Ronnie Gallo- 10 years old. Oldest son of Xander. An introverted boy who likes to go off on his own.
Burtie Gallo- 8 years old. Youngest son of Xander. A troubled boy with a dark secret.
Amy Gallo- 6 years old. Youngest daughter of Xander. A girl who shows signs of schizophrenia.
Kevin Gallo- 15 years old. Gerald’s son. An ambitious teenager who holds great respect for his father.
Izzy Gallo- 7 years old. Oldest daughter of Gerald. She is her daddy’s little princess.
Maya Gallo- 2 years old. Youngest daughter of Gerald. Only plays a minor role in this story.
Gavin Russo- 12 years old. A poor boy who is a loyal friend to Shana.

Adults
Gerald Gallo- The eldest of the two brothers running the family business. Calm and relaxed, and in complete control of his faculties.
Xander Gallo- The youngest of the two brothers. He is hard headed, easily angered, and often violent.
Molly Gallo- Xander’s young wife, and mother to all his children. Sweet, caring, and a good mother.
Alice Gallo- Married to Gerald. Bossy, sometimes mean, and never afraid to speak her mind.
Albert Morris- A forthright man who seeks to end his business relationship with the Gallos.
Grandma Gallo- The Gallo matriarch.
Bodyguard- Xander is never seen without him.
Dean Gallo- A cousin of the Gallos, takes care of the odd jobs.
Hans Bianchi- An untrustworthy business partner who seeks to take advantage of the Gallos.
Serena McIntosh- Xander’s young mistress, often serves as a babysitter for the children.
Terry Childers- Bianchi’s right hand man, although his loyalty to the man is questionable.

Title Explanation

Main Title:
Mafioso- a member of a mafia organization.
Mafiosi- plural.

Subtitle:
“The Mafia” is also known as “Cosa Nostra”, which means “Our Thing”.
Because this particular novel focuses on the Gallo children, I decided to change the subtitle from “Our thing” to “Le Loro Cosa”, which roughly translates to “Their thing” (because the organization currently belongs to the adults, and not the children).

Wasn't sure where to put this. It isn't really complete, but the first book is (chapters 1-6), representing the first story arc.

If this should be in the Works In Progress (which I suspect it should), could a mod please send this over there instead?

I think it's ok to leave this discussion here since the game is not a demo but rather an episodic game. You can always update the first post with a new link when the other part is released

I'm mainly writing this comment to let you know a little thing about the title:
"Le Loro Cosa" is gramatically incorrect because "Le" is plural and "Loro Cosa" is singular. The right sentence should be "La Loro Cosa".
But you can always leave the title as it is if you prefer it to be peculiar. I just wanted to point it out, no offence intended

By the way; hope this helps: "Le Loro Cosa" is a bit awkward. "Le" is plural and "Cosa" is singular. The pun with "La Cosa Nostra" could be "La Cosa Loro" o "La Loro Cosa". If you prefer the plural: "Le Loro Cose" (o "Le Cose Loro").
Also, the plural for "Gallo" would be "Galli" and not "Gallos" (it is in Spanish).

Or maybe that's dialect?

It was pretty apparent I was going to come out with an awkward subtitle no matter what with my chosen play on words (hell, "Their Thing" is pretty awkward in English too). I'll consider changing it for future releases though, so thanks for those awesome alternatives.
