Nice Day:again

Hello! It's been quite a while since I last posted in this particular area.

Nearly a year ago, in fact, which saddens me greatly. In that time I have attempted to write another visual novel, progress of which is at a snail's pace. In the mean time, I worked on the Visual Novel I already released.

Last time people were positive, but there were a few commentaries for things to improve. Never satisfied with "could be better", I've found an artist and musician willing to "make it better", and rewritten parts of the story to better flesh out characters, clear up some contradictions and finally returned the preferences menu to its former state.

Image
"Nice Day:again" is the story of Davis Brooks, who on one day meets a girl on a bus and falls in love with her. There's not much else I can say to the story.

The music was done by Sam English, also known as henceforth infinite, and he has a music portfolio here: http://henceforthinfinite.tumblr.com/

The art was done by Kuroneko from these forums, or Jun Kurose as he appears in the "Notes" section.

The writing was done by me, of course, with some help from IceD in rewriting parts of the story to make more sense.

I really can't say much more about the project, so I'll let it speak for itself.

- Windows Version 1.0
- The Everything Else AND Windows Version 1.0

Feel free to leave commentaries. It's unlikely I'll overhaul this project again. I hope the next time I post here won't be a year from now.

I found this game trough my friendship with your artist, Jun Kurose and I played trough it just today.
Well, Nice Day:again was quite nice. (lul) As a story, I particularly liked the first conversation between Davis and Rachel, too bad there no girls as spontaneuous as her in reality. Overall, the conversations and the thoughts behind them were really cute. That kind of shyness gets me really empathic and I enjoyed reading it even if the story left me with a bit of a melancholic feeling.

The music score fits that feeling nicely and so does the art even if I wish that there would have been more visuals to it, but as a small story, I guess it's sufficient.

In the end, I'd definitely recommend this, it won't take you more than 20 minutes to play and the story makes that a time well spent.

Hello! Thank you for your comments, I appreciate them greatly.

It is funny you should mention the art. I had started out with the ambitious idea to use nothing but CGs for the story; I was soon enough cured of that ambition, ha ha!

I am glad to hear you enjoyed it. :-)

Hello, I know this isn't really relevant but I was wondering if any of you could help me since I have no idea where to post this at, and I'm like really dying to play this game :(

So I downloaded the game and was about to run it when I received the runtime error "Microsoft Visual C++". It goes something like "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information." I haven't had this problem when I last downloaded ren'py games from this forum but it's been quite some time since I downloaded any. Is there anyone who knows what I can do to resolve this?

Hello Macchus!

I have added Nice Day:again to replace the old entry at Renai.us. It's pending approval, which I do not know if it requires it to permit downloads, but there you have it. Thanks for the (return) interest! A link is here.

As for xxxSakura, I am sorry that I do not know what could have caused that error. This is the first instance I have heard of it, so I am unsure where the problem could lie.

It's okay Applegate, I'm sure there's someone out there who can help me. Until then I'm keeping my fingers crossed about playing this! ^^

Well, this is awkward.

MediaFire started working, but both files are all for windows...

Is there any Linux version?

EDIT: Just played it with WINE.

Nice remake, personally, I liked it!
Still a great story after a year.
Good job!

Not a bad game. But I do not understand why you took so many months to make it. I can complete a small game like this in 5 or 6 hours if I get the necessary art and music.

"if I get the necessary art and music". It is those two that took a while to acquire. It wasn't easy to find an artist who both wanted to do it and had the availability to do it, and at first I had been a bit more ambitious.

Dl'd it, (-all, of course) and I'll put it in the fast track, immediately after the NanoReno entries, later for a comment (I guess centered on the now and then, but is too early....

Best regards from Italy,
dott. Piergiorgio.

Hey, I know it's taken me a while to come back here, but I'd really like to thank you for letting me take part in this project.

Well, I got quite a few things I'd like to comment about it.
The music was really nice, I've fallen for it. The composer is simply amazing. It fit so well with the story's mood, and I feel like it made my art look better than it actually was. xD
Your writing also did that where you described Summer very much in harmony with the pictures, and I wish now that I had read your story first before drawing, to have better fit the whole atmosphere. Yet, you made it work in a way that if the composer was the same as me and didn't see the writing and art until the very end, you still put it together as if we did.

The story was a bit heart wrenching. I was trying to prepare for it, when I heard the summary, but it still got me in the end. Yet, it wasn't sad in an unpleasant way. It was more realistic towards the end. Well, I'm not about to spoil it, but I just wanted to mention it.

Though the story was rather short, it was very to the point, and didn't drag out unnecessary information. It gave off an innocent feel that way. I wasn't able to successfully download the older version, because for some reason it wouldn't work on my computer. So I can't compare the differences, but that let's me see this version without any bias.

I'm looking forward to your future works.

:-) I'm just happy someone wanted to do the arts already, Kuroneko.

As far as the composer goes, he never saw the art, but worked off of what was written. I, too, think he is a very amazing composer, and I am very fortunate to have been able to get his help.

Thanks for the comments!
