I WAS a Catholic. But after all this condoms and family planning issues that the church keep on sticking their nose in, I am currently looking for a new one.
That because it's one of the major problem that Japanese face. The free-sex that Japanese youths do is astounding. My friends who was working in Japan for more than 20 years really afraid of this and said to me "Japanese is a good place to work, but definitely not a good place to raise a daughter."
He said that it's an embarrassment if you're already a junior high but still a virgin. Amazing huh!? (>_>)
Well, every country and religion... and religion in every country have their own problems.
Yet they seemingly can't make enough babies to prevent their country and population from (by projection) shrinking by over half in the next century.
I don't find a free-sex environment bad or negative in anyway. Free-sex is literally the most natural thing in the world. The obsession in the West with avoiding sex and nudity is what I find harmful and insane. Children seeing naked people isn't traumatizing - telling children that seeing naked people is wrong, bad, and that they SHOULD be traumatized by it is what causes harm.
I was ten when my friends and I started swapping naked pictures and looking for them, and no one molested us to make us that way. I remember quite clearly how shocked, surprised, and confused we all were when we were told liking to see naked people was WRONG, BAD, and SINFUL. So then why did we feel that way - oh, that's right, let's take it to the logical conclusion - WE must be wrong and bad. That's a fucked up thing to do to kids.
And about Catholics and birth-control - all I'll say is that it started less because of "the sanctity of life" and more because like any religion, they wanted to make sure the faithful outnumbered the Godless unbelievers - and that means big Catholic families.
