I was wondering, has anyone done a visual novel from a third-person POV? I know that there is a myriad of first-person POV, but what about third-person POV?

There are plenty of 3rd person VNs <selfinsert>like my own projects</selfinsert> however, dating sims tend to be in 1st person.

I've seen a few third person ones - the first one that comes to mind is 9 hours 9 persons 9 doors.

Oh, I must have been looking in the wrong places then.

Hijiri, I'll have to take a look at your games then.

I've seen a few. Me personally, A Product of Poison will be in third-person, and my section of LemmaTV technically is, in a third-person omniscient kind of way.

I am also working on one at the moment. ^_^
I haven't quite decided whether to use ADV or NVL mode, since ADV mode is a little awkward with 3rd person, but I'm leaning towards it anyway for aesthetic reasons.

Wow, there are a lot of interesting things going to happen. Make me wish there was more hours in my day to play all of your ideas and games.

Gear, your idea for "A Product of Poison" sound very interesting. I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

Honestly, readers won't care as long as it is written well or is really enjoyable. But one thing I particularly hate is when the writer abruptly switches between the two with the same character: it breaks immersion and makes the story feel more than a little disjointed. I'm pretty biased in liking the 1st POV in horror because I want that level of immersion and dread: like the way it was done in Cradle Song or Shock Cocoon. But there will always be exceptions like Saya no Uta which did the 3rd POV brilliantly. Don't particularly care how its done in romantic ones, those never had the immersion level for me because I always viewed it as a plain story.

I agree with the immersion point. I was just wondering if there were any games in third-person POV and thought I could just cut to the chase and find some games to try them out.

HinataBokko is in 3rd person. But I don't know whether it's because of bad translation or because it's in 3rd person POV, I find it's confusing.
