I have a question regarding this rules:
Carrogath wrote:People wanted variety, and they wanted queer characters as the protagonists of genre fiction. So think sci-fi/fantasy, horror, action, etc.
Does 'sports' count as a genre? Can one use sports as a 'basis'?
Pronouns: They/them or He/him

Sports usually qualifies as a genre, so I'd say that works just fine.

What a wonderful idea (looks like I was too late for that survey though, haha). I would love to participate, so I hope I won't be busy during the time this will be running. I already have a few ideas of what I'd like to make. I wish you all the best of luck with this :)

I'd love to participate in this as well! I do music and am interested in collabing with a group for the jam.

This sounds interesting.

If anyone needs a programmer, shoot me a PM. I have done some ren'py work recently, and can also learn/write something else if you've got particularly specific ideas.

Thanks for the interest everyone! Sorry, just got back from a family thing. Carrogath is working hard on a FAQ, and I'm storyboarding the yuri game we'll be writing as well as hosting. So we're doing both! It'll be fun. XD

We'll write up an official announcement soon to help spread the jam. ^o^/

Um... hi, I have a quick question. I am currently working on a longer project, and I am considering making the demo for the Yurijam. The themes of the story, and specifically the story of the demo involve the main character's relationship with three separate female characters (one that dominates the demo being ambiguously romantic). I have worked on it a little, including a full outline, but I'm not very far and I thought to take this opportunity to move up the production schedule. (We had originally planned to try and put the demo out by Christmas)

But would this be allowed? I am not sure if it would be against the spirit of this to not make an entirely new game from scratch in the time allotted.

I also have a question:
can we start on concept stuff before it officially starts that isn't going into the actual game, you know, like character concepts ect?

@Parataxis: Yeah, sure. As long as it follows the two rules (the game is about female relationships and the romances are queer), we'll take it. We don't expect everyone to have a finished game by the end, so I'm sure yours won't be the only demo.

@Rinima: The rules are the same as NaNoRenO's, basically--you're not allowed to do anything that directly leads to creation of game assets (no working on backgrounds, sprites, script, GUI...), but you're definitely allowed to plan in advance. Character concepts, outlines, and the like are all fair game.

Green Eyed Monster - a VN about ex-magical girls

Question!

I want to work on a game where you explore the life of a woman in the days after her fiancée's death, and has to deal with the loss and move on with her life with her daughter, but Ren'Py doesn't really fit the kind of game I want to work on (it'd be more similar to Interactive Fiction, but using graphics and sounds for a richer experience). I suppose writing a specific engine for the game also qualifies as something you should do only during the Jam?

@killdream: You're allowed to write the game engine before the jam. As long as you're not working on the actual game itself, you can work on whatever you want. Quote Kitty: "I think the engine itself doesn't count since it's like building Ren'Py for Yuri Jam." You can work on the engine, basically, since it has nothing to do with game content.
