ow... so that means, it's all about how careful the user is??? Maybe if I could find out what are the advantageous games I could play with nds, I may start saving some money now....hmm....

On PSP games:platonicheart wrote:If there are tons of otome games in psp, can you name some???There are tons of otome games available for the PSP, especially since lots of the PS2 titles have been ported over.
*random here... Will it be nice if I have a Nintendo DS??? i already have a PSP but my friends keep telling me that there are more interesting games that can be played with nds versus psp.... is it really true??? cause i'm thinking that nds is somehow sensitiive because the screen gets worn out because of the continues slide-click-tap stylus you'll be using, or is it all in the hands of the user??
Real Rode, Starry Sky series, Little Aid, Hime Hibe series, S.Y.K.: Shinsetsu Saiyuuki, Will O' Wisp, Arcobaleno!, D.C. Girl's Symphony, Your Memories Off Girls Style, Hakuouki, Heart no Kuni no Alice, Hiira no Kakera, Kaitou Apricot, Kin'iro no Corda, Last Escort: Club Katze, Otometeki Koi Kakumei * Love Revo!, Panic Palette, Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden, Harutoki series, Renai Banchou, Angelique series, Storm Lover, Kanuchi, Vitamin X/Z, Lucian Bee series.. Garnet Cradle is getting a port soon. There are a bunch of others, but I can't think of them all.
There is serious otome love for the playstation consoles.
On the DS:
You can get a pretty good span of time out of them. Easy on the touch screen, cuz you don't need much pressure AT ALL to use it. Roughly the same amount as you would writing with a pen or pencil. I'd imagine you'd have to be in a rage fit to scratch it too badly, though. Mine didn't have a screen protector and I didn't even put the slightest scratch on it because I never pressed very hard.
That said, careful on the hinges. I dropped my ds lite about two feet onto a carpet and the hinge snapped. That kinda sucked.

I know what you mean with the hinges, two years ago I decided to tuck my DS lite underneath my pillow and when I woke up, one of the hinges was broken. I was really pissed off, I decided to hide it there to avoid my annoying nephew getting it then breaking it and I myself was the one who broke it. What cruel irony.
@ platonicheart- What's wrong with the PSP GO? My brother seems to hate it too he told me not to ask my mother for it.

@riviera:
Thanks for the list! But is this all in japanese??? I only know about 60% japanese right now and still finding it difficult to read kanji, so might as well learn more before trying those games that are in japanese.....
as for the ds, Well it sucks that the hinges are easy to break, but i think i can handle it (maybe if my cat doesn't roam around my room playing with me every now and then)... ah! so that means the screen really is sturdy, knowing you've been using it w/o screen protector and still working well, i'd say i'll give a moment to think on whether i would be buying one or not.

Re: Interesting Otome games???
well, psp go is quite a sensitive system (for me to say)... te features are to compact and well, the intensity of the game somehow lessens because it's a flip type model. you know what if you accidentally flipped it close or someething like that (haha...just a shallow and weird reasoning)@ platonicheart- What's wrong with the PSP GO? My brother seems to hate it too he told me not to ask my mother for it.
But the games you can play there are limited and honestly...don't ask anymore!!! just put in mind it sucks, and tell your brother he's right... "Don't ask your mother for a psp go!"

Re: Interesting Otome games???
PSP Go doesn't have UMD drive. And it's not comfortable to hold due to its compact size. And the price too. I guess that's that. But that is enough for people to choose PSP 3000x over Go.

Re: Interesting Otome games???
Oooh, so you moved on talking about DS already? :'D
Well I'll just be random again and say that I can't wait to get my hands on the new Nintendo 3DS!!!! >w<
Aaaand- it's really uncool there are really so many psp otome games, and they are all in Japanese. OTL
Someone should start translating!!! NOW! Though- I know. People say that there is not enough interest and such, but maybe just...fan translations?

Re: Interesting Otome games???
Me too, I've been wanting to get that and I'm totally saving up on that no matter what.
I agree with you on the translation, but it makes me think sometimes why would there not be enough interest? I'm sure there is and it will grow in time. Since, not every gamer understands the Japanese language and I'm sure there are some Western girls who might want to get their hands on those otome games, if only they could understand it.

Re: Interesting Otome games???
^ Yup, I agree! They just don't know about these things. Maybe even one game could bring enough interested to get all the others translated.

Yep, it is..platonicheart wrote:@riviera:

Portable otome gaming is not kind to us english speakers. I can think of only... what, two otome games in english for the DS, Princess Debut and Avalon Code (which has it as a side thing). Some games have hints of it, like Summon Night Twin Age, though. Tokimemo GS 1 and 2 have an english patch on the DS, but you have to have a flash cart or an emulator to make use of those. Make sure you buy the original game, to support the devs. Sigh.
On the PSP side, well, Persona 3 Portable has otome elements if you play as a girl. Harvest Moon Boy and Girl also has the girl's side of the game for dating and marriage. It's basically Back to Nature with the girl's version thrown in. Brooktown High is an otome, because you can play as a girl, you can date, and it's VN style, but it's not a very good game. Hexyz Force has some bits of otome romance, as does Yggdra Union, but it's only bits.
I'm learning japanese as well, currently expanding vocab and trying to get over my fear of kanji. Sigh, again. It's actually not seeming as hard as people keep saying, just a matter of repetition and memory games to get things to stick.
Depends on what kind of games you'd buy otherwise. The PSP is rpg heavy and tends to have longer games. The DS is more casual, and unfortunately that means it has a lot of shovelware. That said, it also has a few gems and quirky titles a lot of folks like as well.as for the ds, Well it sucks that the hinges are easy to break, but i think i can handle it (maybe if my cat doesn't roam around my room playing with me every now and then)... ah! so that means the screen really is sturdy, knowing you've been using it w/o screen protector and still working well, i'd say i'll give a moment to think on whether i would be buying one or not.

Re: Interesting Otome games???
No point in buying a 3DS, you won't be able to play Japanese games on it.
Unless you buy a different 3DS for each country, or get into illegal stuff.
Needless to say, I'm kinda pissed about the whole thing. Not simply as an importer (I own a couple of Japanese games but not many, because I can't read Japanese) but because it's a portable system. My DS is portable. I take it with me when I travel between the US and the UK (which I do regularly). I don't even know which country each of my games were bought in, I wouldn't be surprised if my collection came near 50/50 (well, or 46/46 to leave a bit of room for the Japanese titles).
Even if I bought two 3dses, I would end up being completely confused all the time trying to figure out which games went in which console.
This deeply annoys me, and therefore I continue raising a stink about it in the hopes that I can get other people to help me complain and maybe eventually they'll sell an updated version that isn't USELESS.
Do not buy a 3DS. Yell at Nintendo.

Re: Interesting Otome games???
What the hell?!?!
The moment I've read that I shouted those words indignantly. Even if I do not understand the Japanese language this thing actually pisses me off, It's so frustrating, it seems that Nintendo is trying to rip money off of their customers. >:|
I guess I won't regret asking my mom to buy me the latest PSP instead.

Re: Interesting Otome games???
I don't want to say it... but that moves (region lock in these days???) kinda stimulate people into using illegal "har-har" stuff. People who wouldn't use it could resort to that for sake of playing other region games. Once they're into that stuff though, there's no escaping it 0_0
Bad move, Nintendo... it works several years ago, but not now.
