The [Blank] Path; a Slenderman Visual Novel

#1 Post by Lotus »

Figured it was about time I made a WIP thread for this, since I know there are a few people I got interested.

Two amazing Slenderbloggers are doing the writing, and I'm doing the graphics, coding, and putting it all together. I don't have an estimate for when it'll be done (the graphics are taking me a while), but when it's done it shall be awesome. When we get to a point where we can ask for it, this thread will also be where to apply for beta-testing.
Ren'Py 6.12.1.1501 lint report, generated at: Fri Jun 17 10:22:25 2011

Statistics:

The game contains 384 screens of dialogue.
These screens contain a total of 4,140 words,
for an average of 10.8 words per screen.
The game contains 11 menus.
The following is a preview of Day 1 alone. I'm guessing the whole game, when finished, will be at least an hour long. Sorry it's a little fast, I've read the text more times than I count.
Oh, and the game will be freeware.

That's awesome :D I never got into the documentation of slenderman (I was mostly interested in Yahtzee's work) but the more I research it the more fascinating it gets.

If you want to get into the Slendy Mythos, I could recommend some of my favorite blogs. They're relatively short (compared to most other Slenderblogs) but definitely worth reading c:

I love it! I wanted to work on a slendy story a while back but could never come up with anything.
Good luck!

Thank you Morhigan!

My colleagues and I would like feedback on what font we should use, http://theblankpath.wordpress.com/2011/ ... t-on-font/ . Feel free to comment on this thread if that'd make you more comfortable.

Edit: Oh, and that blog will also be a more reliable source of updates for this game, and I will be doing reviews of VNs you all have made. I've already done a review of ludeshka's Hierofania.

Oh my god, Slendy! I can't believe someone's actually making a visual novel of this. But even though I'll probably be too scared to play it, I can't wait for it to come out!

I can't believe noone's done a game based on him yet! Oh man, the internet needs one. You won't believe the reaction to this on the Unfiction forums! They're so excited for it they're offering their newborns and making death threats if we don't finish the game, lmao. Bit creepy, but that's the internet for ya.

Edit: Dang your avatar makes me hungry. D: Evul pie is evul.

I think the nightwatcher font fits best. My second choice is Judson. The others all have a sort of "off" feeling in context to the rest of the screenshot.

EDIT:

For some reason I was suddenly reminded of my strange experience when I was 8 (about 11 years ago.) I was trying to sleep and finally opened my eyes in exasperation. And standing above me was a man with no face. He wore a lab coat and had long hair in a ponytail. But no face.
Dr. Slendy?

Judson is my personal choice if I can't use the original (some peeps on UF mentioned they didn't like it). I may go digging for different fonts if I find I don't like any of them.

Thank you for your input!

No problem! And I added to my post a bit about my experience with a type of Slendy.

Lol, I have no idea what dark cave I have been hiding in for the last few big internet memes, but when I first saw this game post I had NO idea who Slender man is, then I spent the whole day researching and I was reeeeeally scared. XD (He's the only person/horror...thing that actually sends shivers up my spine.)

So now I feel much better and I really can't wait to play this game though! Ok, so I might scream a little, but I'm going to play this game. o_e
