Basic Plot:The player will be taking on the role of Lily, a siren (mermaid) living in an alternate universe which is going through a steampunk-esque time period. The sirens and humans have been sworn enemies for years, leading to a violent battle in which the humans come out victorious - since they are more advanced in weaponry. By the end, it is believed that all the sirens are dead...except for Lily. She swam away in fear during the fight and took refuge in a cave nearby, until an explosion caused the entrance to collapse.
Two hundred years have passed by since the war took place, and many have convinced themselves that it never even happened. By chance, two wandering men (Jack and Peter) without a penny to their names finally manage to come across Lily while trying to uncover buried treasure. They decide to take her with them. At first their intent is to sell her for money, but after looking into the history of mermaids - with the help of two winter fairies named Pepper and Tarragon - they agree to try and uncover the rumored world in which only mythical creatures can enter.
There will also be a plethora of other characters you may or may not get to meet as you choose which path Lily will travel on. Will her journey end at the safe haven, or will she choose another way of life? It's up to you to decide in this epic tale...of tails

A sweet, well-intentioned man who seems to always want to do what is in Lily's best interest. He's immediately against selling her, and the two eventually become good friends - although Lily is initially wary about trusting him because of his friendship with Jack.♂Leo-merman (thought to be dead)

Lily's best friend growing up, the last she saw of him was on the day of the war - when he told her about the other world that humans couldn't enter, and vowed to live there with her someday. She secretly hopes that by finding this world, she will also find him.♀Pepper-Fae

A friendly and energetic winter fairy who instantly takes Lily in under her wing; she would do anything for her new friend.♂Tarragon-Fae (obtainable)

A winter fae, as well as Pepper's older brother, who is also a bit of a ladies man. Initially coming off as pompous and arrogant - he eventually reveals himself to be quite intelligent and kind...but still constantly tries hitting on Lily...and any other girl he comes across.Note:**I'll be working on this game in my spare time, which has been quite limited recently since my main focus is Queen of Thieves right now, so it's going to be progressing very slowly I'm afraid!

Short story that sparked the idea: He stretched out his arm, offering her the fruit. She continued to stare past him stubbornly, refusing to even meet his eyes.
“Suit yourself then.” He bit into it, “You know Jack really isn’t all that bad once you get to know him.” He spoke, mouth full of apple.
“I do not wish to ever get to know my main kidnapper.” She said solemnly.
“Are you still on that? Come on, I mean we’re doing this for your own good…we’re protecting you for God’s sake!”
“I never asked to be protected.”
“You sure are the most unappreciative girl I’ve ever met.” He shook his head in disbelief, and then threw the apple core into the lake behind her, “You coming?” He asked tauntingly as he stood to his feet and wiped off his hands.
“You’re hilarious.” She replied ruefully, leaning her cheek against the cool grass. Her turquoise colored hair slowly began to fade to brown as soon as she touched the land.
“Whoa…why is your hair changing color?!” Peter exclaimed in surprise.
Lily continued to float there for quite some time, unsure whether or not to reveal the secret which she’d kept so well hidden from them. Oddly enough, however, she’d almost begun to…well…trust him.
“Put out your hand.” She demanded, after giving it much thought.
“What?”
“Just do it.” She rolled her eyes.
Hesitantly, Peter extended his hand out toward her.
“Good boy.” She spoke mockingly, grabbing his hand in her own. It was warm and soft, and she blushed ever so slightly at the comforting feeling which it brought her, “Pull me out of the water.” She sputtered, looking away from him for a moment.
“But…”
“Do it!” Lily met his gaze once more. She could sense curiosity in Peter’s face, and watched as he begrudgingly complied with her order. She held on tight to his hand as her body slowly began to slip on to the surface, and she could instantly feel the change. Her chest began to sting as her gills faded away into nothingness, and it felt as if someone were ripping her tail apart. She cried out in pain.
“Lily!” Peter sounded alarmed.
“Just wait for it.” She gritted her teeth in tolerance as her wonderful mane of aqua hair began to turn an average shade of brown, and her beautiful scales began to fade away into the hideous and peachy color of flesh. Finally, the pain was over and she sat up. Peter stared at her with wide eyes…
“You’re…”
“Human?” She asked with a jeering grin, stretching out her legs before him.
“Naked!” Peter completed his sentence, looking away quickly. Lily looked down, confused for a moment. It was then she remembered that human parts were very different from mermaid ones. She crossed her legs in order to conceal her newest addition, which seemed to be making Peter increasingly uncomfortable.
“If it bothers you so, then hand me your jacket for I need your help to stand!” She snapped, slightly offended, “It shocks me greatly however that you happen to be more surprised by my nakedness rather than by my sudden humanity!”
