Erm. Usually I submit mouse art, but I wasn't feelin' it today. ♪ I feel it in my fingers~I feel it in my toes~♬ Well, maybe not my toes, but I did try finger art.

^ Yao (17; he's older now) and Moufette. Tall, dark, and handsome eludes me.

Moufette-the floofy thing-is a plushie Shuen bought for Yao when his wisdom teeth were growing in and hurting like a bench press. Moufette's belly is filled with sand, and Yao kind of...uses it as a stress ball. I hid it in Yao's bedroom.

I say "hid" because his room is like a page out of an I Spy book. XD Have a peek:

BGs of Yao's home are what I've been working on when I should really be working on scenery that SHOW UP in the demo orz.

The game contains 597 screens of dialogue.
These screens contain a total of 6,554 words,
for an average of 11.0 words per screen.
The game contains 2 menus.
Currently working on BGs for the demo. I'm drawing backgrounds for the first time on account of this being my first game, so any advice to help me improve this WIP would be greatly appreciated! Like "you can start by installing ceiling lights". OTL I just noticed.

Closing the poll early because a weird glitch in Blogger keeps spiriting away votes. I read horror stories on other blogs and the support forum about people who lost hundreds overnight, which would basically bring my digits into the negatives, and I really don't want to find out if that's possible. If your development blog is also powered by Blogger, then the more you know (I hope no one else has to go through this. I thought I was going screwy for the longest time! XO). Thanks to everyone who voted! I'm sorry, I don't know how to reverse the derp.

I don't see anything inherently wrong with the angle of the BG, but then again I'm not an artist >_> OokamiKasumi posted something about this, very informative read if you haven't seen it already. Only thing I could say is maybe add some scattered items about on the floor? I'm assuming that's Lola's bedroom, and she's a messy girl, so... where's dat collection of five-leaf clovers? Just noticed that you put "all sixty-nine." 69. What does it mean Add those piles of clothes on the floor, make a little chaos in that room!

Nice menu choice buttons BTW. If you need help with the GUI, maybe I can stumble around the code and help you?

It was a very informative read, as were all those other threads OokamiKasumi posted in the Asset Creation: Writing subforum before I knew it a week had passed I regret nothing. Ah, Lola's a slob! I completely forgot to make a mess I was trying so hard to create a space that wouldn't cave in on itself, thank goodness you pointed out the elephant in the room.

It works, but it's nothing to write home about. Think I'll keep it for the demo because sweet Jesus it works. I can't make heads or tails of the code even with the help of Camille's amazing crash course in screen language/UI design, but I'll keep experimenting until mine looks like murder. Never gonna give you up!

Updates here, updates there, updates, updates, everywhere!

In point form because it's that time of year again schooled by school cannot words.

-Hit a brick wall while testing the demo, spent months hating the sprites/CGs/BGs/words/GUI/universe not knowing why, but I get it now: the art SUCKS. It's all wrong. There's not enough XD! So I holed up in Asset Creation: Art, and thanks to the winsome posts you winners write like always draw full body sprites on super size canvas which makes so much sense it'd never occur to me left to my own devices, naturally, I'm back! This time with a style that fits just right!

I feel better already.

Loads of changes come with the new art, but that's cool because everything works out. Now the sprites have outfits and poses. Some (read: one) even age(s)!

What else am I adding to the demo? Uh, side images (keep your fingers crossed), music, this one thing I don't even know the name for, and taking a page out of CheeryMoya's book, NVL mode.

-Oh, and! I've yet to delete the original files. Would anyone be interested in my old shame if I were to tweak those assets and release them in Creative Commons? Like

Ahhhhh I kept checking your blog but you never update it OTL Even though this art overhaul means the demo isn't coming any sooner than before, it looks really great! It's a lot less pixelated and more smooth now.

Maybe...? They had a unique aesthetic so someone might like them or you could burn it all, plus it seems like a waste to just throw them away >_> Your choice though.

@CheeryMoya: Ahhhhh I am a terrible blogger orz. I have many drafts, believe it or not. My to-do list is a mile long; I can't wait to start on it, but I will have to wait until winter break because I have practicum this semester. In other words, sleep is for the weak.

Still, I'm glad you think so! I tried mixing in some vectors like you suggested, mostly with straight lines because how do curves confound it.
