Yes, my style is very cartoony, but of late it's also gotten more realistic - I pride myself on correct anatomy and varied faces. I hasten to add that I'm a penciler, not an inker or colorist.

Hey, and cartoony is awesome, I meant what I said in a good way, it's just different than what I'm after.
You don't ink? I know there are fancy ink techniques with real-man ink and stuff, but if you have Sakura pens or something it's just basically drawing over your pencil.

This is my sketch and coloring done using your Elly and Autumn design...

Its just a sketch so the lines looked rigid..

Took me about 1hr and 30mins to complete..

30mins of my time is Me thinking what should the character looked liked based on the description.
15mins sketch.
the rest is coloring.

the truck looks weird...i can't imagine sleeping while holding a solid truck object..hahaha
and how do you draw faces of two girls with intimacy (girl X girl)?.....

Aww... your sketch looks so much better than mine... ^-^;; I intended for you to color what I had drawn (which is what you'll be doing for a hopefully-much-better-than-me artist) but you took my idea and made it better, so I'm very happy. XD

By intimacy, I meant to try an convey a closeness, that may have girlxgirl overtones, but may just be close friendship. (It's not a gxg game, by the way, but it's not a ren'ai, so it's not really anything x anything else. ^-^;; )

Teddy bear is good! I give you a thumbs up!

Truck is good! By the way, Elly is sleeping with a truck because she just got it as a gift, and she's a robot, so the fact that it's hard doesn't bother her, and she doesn't need to sleep anyway. XD

Hey, your clouds are good! :O I like the sort of, vague look it has. I don't really think the dots will work though. XD

You did a good job with that. Nice blue tones. If you find the color too strong, try setting the layer to Overlay or Hard Light for just a tinge (or even only Color).

Well, the other two-three projects I'm "on call" for haven't actually really asked me to do anything or their progress threads are close to inactive. And I think that your sketch artist is talented enough that I won't be doing clean-up while coloring (or not much of it, if I can help it.)

But you'll need to find yourself to digitally ink the picture or trace it and put down lines, since I don't lay down heavy lines or vector them, like in a lot of polished Japanese CG art. In fact, I may not lay down a line layer at all other than guide layers.

Just one more thing: How detailed are we talking about here?

• Flat colors
• Cel-shading
• Gradients over whole area
• Airbrushing
• Gradients over flat areas, gradients for highlights and on shadows
• Watercolor-style digital brush painting
• All of the above at different transparencies

Optimally, I would like to do cel style as it is much, much faster while still giving form but not doing the kind of shading in my avatar (which is a loose digital brush painting.)

Um, I wish I could say that I understood anything that you just said, but I know so little about coloring, (and/or computer art) that I really didn't. Sorry... ^-^;;
I don't really want your top quality stuff if it's going to take you days on end to get one picture done. I want something that looks nice without killing you to make it. I'm not into murder.
I think you and drawing_is_fun should talk together about what you both are good at, what styles you do, what programs you have, etc., so that you can decide on something fairly consistant, and decide who does what and who is imitating who.
Ideally, I'd like one person to do the sprites and another to do the CGs, but if you guys, who know what you're doing more than I do, want to split it a different way, whatever works for you guys.

I would want drawing_is_fun to do the sketches for everything, including CGs if they include the sprites because overall style is very important and I would feel like I was doing fanart otherwise.

Tell you what, I'll just pick the style that I'm comfortable doing and go from there. Probably a blend between cel-shading and airbrushing with soft edges but without highlights. I'll do any BG portions in loose digital painting style.

If blueeyes is doing the inking, that's fine. Looks like his custom avatar has very clean vector lines. We may as well just discuss it all here. Blueeyes1345, do you have a custom tablet or do you use pen or what program? Tapered lines, coming to a point at the tip, usually look best. Whatever you use, I'll tell you how to do it in it. Sometimes, it just taking an eraser tool to the ends when you're done.

We'll probably make a pretty good team, actually...
