Fine. I don't have any money to be risking legal action, so I won't make the game.

Do you have the software to do the rendering? If not, you can still get a copy of DAZ|Studio Por free for the next couple of days at http://www.daz3d.com There's also Hexagon and Bryce. I recommend at least the first two. The last is mostly good for making landscapes and BGs, but you can do the same in Studio with the right content. Hexagon is a modeler-- You can make new stuff if you need it. There are several composers hereabout you can talk to, although some may be a little leery of working on a fangame.

Personally, I wouldn't use anything from the original work, at least not in terms of assets. Writing is a grey area I prefer to stay away from, and usually suggest that others do as well.

Wait, I don't understand. When it comes to the original work, like backrounds (Anri's bedroom for instace) shouldn't I be able to use them as long as I let people know I don't own them and don't make any money for this.

Well, the original backgrounds are owned by the company. If you use them, you could face legal trouble. It's technically stealing, whether you make money off it or not. (Unless it's registered under a certain Creative Commons licence, which I don't think it is. )

(Of course, it's just more offensive to use their original assets. You could get in trouble just for using their characters.)

You might like to read these threads and decide for yourself if it is really worth your effort to make a fan game.
