As I have said before, I've struggled with thoughts like "This is too difficult to manage," or "This is a cheap imitation of something better" or even "I can't possibly create something worthwhile because I speak English." In other words, my thoughts have not been logical or helpful. I'm trying to address this problem.
So here's my plan for creating a story during August 2011...Title: "The Freshman Dorm Raid"
Category: A love triangle (BxG) story. Slice-of-life, with some non-explicit CFNM content. A mix of drama and comedy. Might get R-rated.
Scope: A fairly short visual novel. No stats or complex gameplay. Takes place from the first week of college until the annual homecoming event (in other words, late August through late September).
Relevant characters: Only three. There may be some incidental characters, but they'll probably be offscreen.
The main character: a college freshman who recently turned 18. However, still acts rather immature. He's glad to be away from his parents because now he doesn't have to worry so much about them finding his porn collection. Physically fit and attractive, but quite bad at maintaining relationships.
Potential love interest #1: a girl who goes by "Fred." Her behavior and appearance are tomboyish. Doesn't talk much about her sexuality. She talks with guys all the time, but she believes that guys regard her as just another friend. This leaves her depressed.
Potential love interest #2: a girl named Annie. She often seems willing to do outrageous and rebellious things. But her appearance is refined and feminine, and at times she acts that way. She's very conflicted.
Premise: one of this college's traditions is for sophomore girls to raid the freshmen guys' dorms around the beginning of the school year. Annie and Fred, who volunteered to become roommates for the second year in a row, work together and decide to "kidnap" an attractive freshman guy. So they bring the main character into their dorm while he's still asleep. However, they don't realize until then that underneath the bed sheets, the main character wasn't wearing anything.
And so Annie and Fred decide they'll use this to their advantage. They realize he's good looking but rather immature. So they tell him that if he wants to invite either one of them to homecoming, then he'll have to push himself. They state that if he's willing to streak on campus, and be seen by women, then they will begin to consider him worthy.
In effect, this is a clothed female x naked male story from the guy's perspective. In several scenes, he'll be naked in public, and the audience will be privy to his thoughts. So that's why this story might need the equivalent of an R rating for content. However, the audience won't see him naked. There will be no sex scenes or violent scenes. And the young women will remain dressed.
Possible endings: the main character may succeed in asking Annie or Fred to homecoming. But he might fail. (I want to create a story where the main character won't get a reward if he's passive or immature.) In many ways, this is a coming-of-age story, as the main character will have opportunities to think about his thought patterns and behaviors.
Writing: I will write Monday-Friday mornings for about an hour, not long after waking up. I will create enough scenes to logically progress from the beginning to the endings.
Visuals: I'll use others' sprites and backgrounds. Some characters may be made with free/inexpensive doll makers. This is not a high priority.
Audio: I'll use free-for-use music. This is also not a high priority.
Engine: I'll use a recent version of Renpy.
Testing: I'll make sure to test it every few days.
Backing up: I have a couple USB drives for baacking up my data.
