Cherette's Art [Critic please? :D]

#1 Post by Cherette Lealith »

Okay.
I've rewritten this intro thing whatever enough times now.
I don't want to do it again.
You guys get no intro! D<
Here have some art that I would really like critique on. :3
(As I really want to improve, but am a bit unsure of what I need to improve on,)
Picture 12.png
This is a recent hand-drawn sketch of mine. And by recent I took the picture right before making this thread. ... I had to take the picture with my webcam since I don't own a scanner and I apparently held the webcam at an awkward angle producing that weird slanty thing going on.
Untitled-1-1.png
A several day old picture I drew out of boredom and a sudden urge to do something that isn't pixel art. (My usual medium.) I can tell I messed up somewhere with the one holding the booze. But I can't quite tell with what or where...

Well his hand's not supposed to twist like that, and the legs are out of proportion but the latter may be on purpose.

The second one. I'm not even sure if that's a left hand.
You see, while you could hold hans with someone like that (but not that much turned), it's not very comfortable. The more natural thing to do with be for the guy on the right (our right) to have the back of his hand facing the camera, while the guy on the left has the back of his hand away from the camera.

Mm, yeah. I see what you mean. I just tried that myself, and it was uncomfortable, as well as it felt awkward.
I'll have to go back and fix it later tonight.

Maybe this is just because of the camera, but I think the hands of the first picture looks a bit... Short? I mean, the elbow is a bit high if compared to the body :3 And maybe the lines of the feet is better more slant.

Also... Why didn't you finish drawing his cape? It's cool XD

Oh! You're style's cute!
The first guy's good, I think. Maybe elongating the lower portion of the legs..? As for his arms, you should slant them more to (our) left and make the upper arms a little longer, since that is the angle that he is standing in, it'll make him look less tense-it kind of looks like he's cold, so he's pulling his arms closer to his body. unless you were going for that look...
As for the second picture, maybe bringing the knees up a little higher and making the forearm a little longer on the guy with the boots. Other than that, all the awkwardness lies in the angles. (Ex: Their hands>side angle|Drunk guy's leg>more behind him|Eyes>ourleft eye more on on angle. But that's not really my place to speak because I have problems with eye angles ><

jsbdkjfbsd omg I completely forgot I made this thread! Imma Derp.

@felisselita::
elbows I can never seem to get them right.
I know they should be lower...
But when I draw them like that, they end up looking like freakishly long arms.
andyeahIgotlazyonthehands.Iwasntfeelingitatthetime>_><_<

It's actually a jacket. Or a halfjacket. thing. Not technically a cape. (It it long and billowy though!)
I did finish drawing it though, it might be hard to see since its a bad picture sorry,

@Version::
Do you mean cold, as in personality wise, or cold as in brrr, "It's cold"? I think you mean brrcold.
Angles are tricky evidently. I'm going to have to do some practice on those.

Aaanndd~
New picture!
At least, a new WIP.
It the drunk guy in the 2nd picture, but significantly less drunk and less chibi.
(If anyone's wondering his name is Zephyrus.)

Also, linked cause big picture is big.

EDIT:: >_>
Wrong WIP. *Stupid*
Apparently its not him its another character of mine.
