good day, gentlemen.

Im new here, and I have a question.

beforehand, i hope everyone can forgive me if anybody already asked this. (honestly im too lazy to browse because my lack of high-speed of internet)

so, recently I decided to make a VN, and Iam on process now. and then I realize that I can't draw BGs

so, gentlemen, here is my question:
can i take photos from internet for my BG? (it's not a shop or something like that, just buildings and places)

that's it. I hope I'm not bothering all of you. good day.

If you follow the link from the Ren'Py Home Page to the OELVN Community Wiki, you'll find a page called Free Background Art. The sites linked there generally give specific permission for you to use those images in your game.

Random images that you find on the internet, including Flickr etc, are almost always NOT permitted to be used in your games... unless you contact the copyright holder (the photographer or whoever) and are granted permission directly by them. This is what I did for Elven Relations: all-bar-one of the backgrounds are either from sxc.hu and under licenses that allow their use in anything, or anything noncommercial, or created specifically for my game. But one of them I searched around on Flickr, found a photo I wanted, and contacted the photographer, and he gave me specific permission for use of that one photo in that one game.

Flickr has lots of photos distributed under CC licence, some are even allowed to be used in commercial projects.

There's also a list of public domain images on wikipedia:

good day, gentlemen

@Nessiah, killdream & chronoluminaire

thanks for the answers. Your links are very helping.

but now I have one more question.

If I take some of the music, sfx, and BGs there, then where should I put the original creator/disclaimer of them? credits? And, If I write it, can i only write the site if I got it from a site with many artist? (example site a only featured one artist John Smith, but site b featured many artist like aa, bb, cc, and so other.... can i just write credits: site b?)

good day, and thank you

Unless its in public domain, you have to credit each artist (pictures in public domain doesn't need to be credited).
