Well, I need a bit of money right now, so I'll do a couple of GUI's for a few games here on LSF.


A couple examples of my stuff.

Availability:
-SilverxBlue Complete
- Hayzel
- Poketto Kunoichi (MIA)
- OPEN


I'll do the basic package (Save/Load screens, Preference Screen, Textbox) for about $5*, and anything else can be discussed in private. I do, however, have some rules:

Rules
Please read the notes below for any extra information. PLEASE.
Payment-Half of the price must be paid before I begin work. This is done to both ensure that you will recieve your aseests and to assure me that you will pay.
Commercial/Noncommercial- I'll only do noncommercial games, since I really don't wish to dab in that field.

1-To put bluntly: If your game is an otome* game, sorry but my answer is no.
2-You must be willing to finish the game you are working on, and you must show me some physical proof that you are working on it.
3-You must keep in contact with me while making the GUI (This is to make sure you get what you want)

Concequences
-If you become inactive or abandon your game, I will make the GUI available to anyone else to use for free.
-If you do not keep in contact with me while making the GUI, I will take the most logical course of action and do it as I believe would be fit. Not exactly punishing, but you may not get what you want.

What I can't do
Maps
Main Menus*
Anything overly complex

*Note 1 If I know you personally, or if your project is one that truly interests me, I probably won't charge you. Of course, you shouldn't be hoping too much for this.

*Note 2 If you can give me tangable proof that your Otome game isn't going to be a generic dating game, I might consider it. What types of Otomes won't be accepted: Slice of Life/High School (Overdone), Mystery (As per Van Dine's Rules, which also goes for BxG games), Fantasy (Just as overdone as HS/S'life). This also goes for BxG games.

*Note 3 I can do them, but usually this should be something an artist should do since they can betteg give a feel to the whole game.

Coding: I can code the GUI for you, but considering how much time it takes to do so, I'll have to add to the price. ($2 more)

If it is alright to ask, out of sheer curiosity, why would you be unwilling to design a GUI for a generic, slice-of-life otome game (but a generic, slice-of-life galge is okay)? I imagine the creator(s) isn't/aren't going to force you to sit down and actually play a girl's romance game if you're not interested in that type of game.

Galge is almost non-existent on this board, so I doubt that I'll even get an offer for one of those. To answer your question: I have a very...shall we say, pessimistic view of otome games, I may not be forced to play it, but as a maker I still have the right to decide what games I want to help or not.

Well, it's your own choice which you're free to make, but pfft.

It gets pretty tiring being stuck in a position of, on one side, having people complain because your game isn't Romantic enough, and on the other side, having people refuse to play it because it's sort-of GxB and therefore must be nothing but Generic Romance. (This isn't me wanting you to work for me, this is me being fed up at the anti-otome comments I keep seeing lately, which seem to have a very specific idea of what 'otome' means which has nothing at all to do with quite a lot of the games being produced.)

If you're in favor of well-written games, it would be more *productive* to say that you will only work on games you find to have some merit in them rather than mindless generic love-love stories. If you're turning down otome out of the hope that people will write more of a different kind of game instead, it might be better to say what kind of game you'd LIKE to work on, rather than what you wouldn't?

(... You might also want to explicitly limit yourself to free games only, for market reasons. Artists get grumpy sometimes at seeing vast undercuts.)

Due to the nature of the use of the word "otome" people have come to identify it as "Games where you date prerrty boys for no apparent reason" I have played games with female protagonists that are well written (-atled- stands out)


I did say that if people can show me that their game is NOT a generic love-love game, I'll consider it. I really don't mind female protagonists at all, nor romance games TBH, but when it's the only thing being made, it get's....infuriating to say the least.

Actually, I'm not. But like I said earlier: there's little to no bishoujo games being made, so I don't find the need to list them.

Sort of on OP topic: I just wanted to say that even though I don't need a GUI, I think Tanya up there in your screenshot is really cute. ^_^ If you drew her, you did a good job.


It's not really strange when you consider the demographic of the forum. You also "put it bluntly" instead of explaining why in the OP, so people are going to get defensive because they feel like you're attacking things they like for no reason.

I'm curious: would you still dislike a generic otome dating game if it had really masculine love interests?

My interests would be piqued, but if it's the same thing with a different wrapper, I'll probably still have to give it a pass. Visuals are one thing, but I still expect the Novel aspect of a Visual Novel to be on equal level with the art.

EDIT: No, this is not a political fight, and don't any of you dare start using the "adroginity is still masculine" defense. I've already lost a perfectly good thread to that argument.

Ugh... While I'd love to have your GUI for My, Dark, Little Secret... I can't... Cause it's... Well, a GxB game. But in my defense, it doesn't really focus all that much on the "romance" side since each character's path usually centers on their back stories, past mistakes and their general flaws. Well, the MC does get a chance of falling in love with one of them, so I guess it does centralize on romance. Ah. Whatever. Never mind. Forget I said anything. XD
