Hello, my name's jeje

I'm totally new here. So please excuse me if something's wrong.
I wanna try making a really really short vn (but it won't have any choices, just reading through a bunch of words and pics.)
I've made a story about a woman who's dying and wanna make a pact with a demon with her life as the payment. Well, it turns out to be a little twisted. Maybe.
The character will be only the demon and her. So, yeah, I've made the pic for the demon. I think I won't show the female.
It will be a short story. And please forgive me if the story or the pics are not good, it's my first time making this. Well, at least, I will pick free backgrounds I've found while browsing through lemma all this time.

The thing is: I wanna learn making vn. But I'm totally at lost in programming. So, because I'm a noob, I'm gonna ask for a noob programmer too. If you have at least the basic skill of renpy, and if you're interested, maybe we can work together?

Although this is not what you want to hear, I would just like to leave this Ren'py cookbook tutorial for starters and then the basic tutorial applied in an otome game setting which you can leave out the branching and statistical parts and just focus on making a kinetic novel. I'm not saying you will never find a noob programmer, but many people on the forums who once worked by themselves were self-taught in using Ren'py. If you never find a programmer any time soon, then maybe these two tutorials will help get your story off the ground. I mean, hey, I tried to use Ren'py last year and gave up without trying. But I picked it up last week and it took only a day or two to understand how to show BGs, characters, dialogue, and transition.

Thankss for the reply~

Well, as you suggested, I try a bit (the first look always manipulating, I thought it's really hard... I hate coding...) And it seems like I can make what you call... kinetic novel? It's like visual novel without branching thingy isn't it?
At least, from what you provided, I think I can do the basics.

Thank you :D

For nearly ninety percent of games, the basics are all you'll ever need. The branching code is really easy too. You just have to get used to the idea of labels and writing things in different spots. Even so, it just *looks* hard. You want a programmer round about the time you get the coolest idea ever, and after those tutorials, haven't the foggiest idea where to start.

@Dark: yeah, I guess renpy is easy. Even for a sucker like me... (but I still don't really understand the concept of label and things like that... *noob*) Dunno about the branching ones. I'll try on it once I'm done with this... Kinetic Novel.

Ahaha, I guess "kinetic novel" sounds a bit weird but it just means a game that moves through a story without delays like choices and such and only focus on the story as a visual form of a book.

Something like a "label" is just that, a label. Think of a label like a marker, usually used in VNs with branches. So say you want to do activity A, you make a label A and same with B, C, etc.
Code:
"Main character" "What should I do today?"
    menu:
        "Go eat out":
            jump eat
        "Go watch movie":
            jump movie

then you have these labels. These labels can be "jumped" or "called", both functions that progress to the next label it calls for (like how in "Select Scenes" in movies "jump" to whatever scene you want to watch on DVDs)
Code:
label eat:
"Main character" "Sushi is always tasty!"

label movie:
"Main Character" "Titanic is so SAD!"

Since your first VN is just words and pictures, you can just forget about labels until you decide to make a VN with choices. Just keep in mind that indentation is important or else it will look like the game's messed up no matter what you do.

@twisted: Yeah, kinetic novel sounds a bit weird in my tongue.
Hmmm... I guess I understand about the labels. But still... It's really complicated... for me...
I'll try making a very, very stupid short vn as a practice then!
