I got inspired by tylerthekitsune's post about more animal-related games, and I've had a little idea in my head for a sim collaboration project!

Here's the premise (copy pasta'd):
The main character has bought a small house and wants a pet, but he/she's allergic, so he/she goes online to find a special breed of non-allergenic cats. He/she comes across a website offering said pets for free, and decides to try it because they are desperate. But when he/she gets the pet, it's actually an animal-eared girl/boy! And there's a catch- they only have 5 days to spend with their new pet as a "free trial". So they need to make the pet love them and pay up, or get the pet taken away.

The player can pick what pet they want from the website- That's where you come in.

My idea is that each person in the project will be assigned an animal character to make a story for. That way, not only will the player have a choice in what pet they want, but the game will be very re-playable. Also, each animal character would have 3 endings, which gives even MORE re-playability. (And possibly the player will be able to pick their gender so they'll be aligned with a pet of their opposite gender)

Also, each person in this project (or persons, if you want to team up) will get to write their own story how they like (as long as it doesn't have adult content, I'd like to keep this game in the 13+ range, so possibly just some fanservice or slight nudity) and design their animal character. I can supply music and some graphics (The backgrounds and music should be the same, because you're playing the same person in the same house afterall), but you can have your character drawn however you like. (It must have characteristics of your animal of course- ears and a tail atleast. But preferably not TOO much of a furry)
Coders will definitely be needed to put this together.

I've made a list of (generic) pets here if anyone wants to sign up, if you have any ideas for more exotic pets, please tell me and I'll add them to the list:

Hampster
Mouse
Hedgehog- Taken
Small bird- Taken

So far we have a possible coder, some writers and a couple of artists (Including me). I only want to do art for 3 stories right now, so we'll need more artists.

Also I'll try to get a basic kit together soon, which will include the game's music tracks, backgrounds and possibly a customized textbox (Which will all be the same pretty much, besides maybe some character themes for each pet)


It might be complicated, but if we get enough people it'd make an amazingly fun, varied and original game.

Cat or rabbit, hmmm... gahh, it's a toss-up, lol.

But I dunno if you can be allergic to a snake or a fish, so it's weird that such a company would offer such a thing. On the other hand, mermaids... XD

Wow, oddly enough, that is an excellent story for a VN. I think you guys should definitely back this up.

It's a harem show and involves supernatural causes IIRC, not shady companies. lol
My project is actually more similar, probably, in that it's a type of harem. XD

Just to mention again, I CAN supply some character art, and I WILL be supplying background art and bgm. (I have the connections, yo~) So all we really need is some passionate writers and some more artists :3 (Or hybrids of both!)

Were I a better writer and one with lots of free time, I'd be interested in the snake one (because snakes are awesome). As such, I meet neither of these criteria, and would have no idea what to write.

Well for the snake I'd imagine someone kind of like Ranpha from Guardian Angel (http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/23 ... _large.png), but just a little more flirty/harsh. The story would be some fluff of getting to know her and winning her love, I guess xD

I'm in, I'm in ^_^ ... after I finished my current project though (I set the deadline to 31 August). I always want to make the story about chameleon-girl or iguana-girl.

BTW, I could provide the art (for my story... and others if they want it) and the story as well.

I imagine you could go several ways with a Hebi-chan. >w<
You could give her a general shifty appearance with a narrow face and such.. or you could make her a cute, mild personality like a garden snake ^_^ She could always be saying things like "Why are you afraid?! I'm a nice snake!" XD

Or, she could be like a cobra, and wear a big hoodie all the time with the "hood" being the defining characteristic.

But, an idea.. I think that after it's settled who's doing what, before we get started, we need to all choose what personality types the animals will have. After all, it wouldn't be fun to end up with a game where nearly every animal you got was a tsundere, or if there was a disproportionate amount of cheerful, nice pets. I think it would be fun to try to make it as varied as possible so that when restarting, a reader have more to be curious about and also make the choices more challenging as well. What works for one might not work for another ^_^

Wahh, this is exciting~
I think I might actually want to do the fox-girl... take a break from my general catgirl stuff. Plus, I have a friend who keeps hounding me to make fox characters.

But, a question... if we pick an animal, should we expect to do both a male and female character for that animal?

I think that would mean we'd end up with the same character, just with a body switch. I know I'd find it difficult to keep them separate. I don't see any problem with one person volunteering to write snake-girl, while someone else writes snake-boy. If that means there's only one gender of certain pets, well it's a shop and it doesn't have unlimited stock. Anyone complains we just tell 'em to write that story themselves and re-release if we get enough later contributions.

I'm wondering about where all these pets came from. Were they just bred for the shop, or are some of them rescued, SPCA style? Any of them illegal or smuggled? (Just sprinkling plot-dust in the hopes it'll help someone.)
