I want to creat a character for my story, I don't mind if there are only girls, I wan work with that. I got the one on generate character art http://khmix.sakura.ne.jp/download.shtml, but of course is in japanese. I wnted to know if there's an english version OR another generator that's in english so I can understand... thank you...

I'm not aware of any other generating programs, but http://bassnovel.com/select_materials.p ... m&p=0&key= has quite a few free sprites and backgrounds.

You might also be able to find an artist. Having original art is better than working with stock art.

I was thinking of creating a program like this, currently Im still developing the plans for it so unfortunately won't be done anytime soon.

There are games where you can create characters and change their poses. like the one I use for my newest game

It is called 3D Custom Girl (Just lets you create females)

Mine is 3D Custom Girl + Boy Mods (You can create decent enough looking males as well as girls)

A HUGE warning though... It is basically a hentai(porn) game and if you don't want any of that I suggest you avoid getting this program or if you do get it to just avoid the hentai in it which is simple enough. if you get the full version there is a pose maker that comes with it so you can create your own poses for games

I wanted to make a VN character maker in flash a while back where you could save the final images as pngs (I know it's possible because I've seen other character generators do it) but I didn't go through with it because it was too much work at the time and I don't have a very 'anime' art style... and my past attempts at emulating it ended less than spectacularly.

There's always khmix mods!

This link is sort of... an archive of bonus content for the maker. Unfortunately, it is all in Japanese and you will either have to make due or try to rename them VERY carefully.

The links with MB/KB have full sets, and the BBS is simply for sharing creations (but there are a few people who share links to sets they made scattered around in it). No one seems to have posted in... a very very very long time though.

Well, i'm working on such a generator right now, it is called IIcharacter and it is a bit more flexible then KHmix.

Original idea was to create characters designs and descriptions with one button and post them anywhere, so all the interface menus contains randomize options.
To make randomization generate proper sprites a lot of work was done for categorization and sorting default KHmix charset sprites and parts of other charsets.
It is more flexible than KHmix:
+ you can add new group of layers (body/dress/panties/socks/...) just by creating a folder.
+ you can have as many color groups as you wish (not just hair/dress/skin and nothing more)
+ you can make layer recolareble by simply modifying filename
+ you can use separated png for each image or just references to a region to crop from a big sheet of sprites
+ all imported layer names are translated into english, other translations are planned too
+ animated layers are supported, including awesome blinking eyes made with renpy's anim.SMAnimation
+ export result to clipboard or to png file(s), renpy code export is planned too
+ you can write plugins for even more complicated stuff
+ it's a RenPy app, so it must work with Win/Lin/Mac/Android
+ it's opensource, because anyway you can easyly crack it

Ok, I would actually kinda love seeing that finished. I do not mind the "translated" KHMix, but... really not that convenient for exports, ya know what I mean?

(Granted, I only ever use them for standins but STILL. It's the principle of the matter.)

Not really. What IS convenient for exports?

What I mean is, even in the translated version there are multiple options for exports that are not in English and if you are like me (stupid and still studying Japanese/do not have a comp in Japanese locale yet) you A) don't know which one exports to which format without pick and chose guessing or B) You just plain forget which one does what.

More than once I have chosen the wrong option to export my little doll and find out it is transparent when I need it to be.
