Hello everyone~*

First thing first, please forgive my bad english (>.<)o

Alright. I'm working on a visual novel, first called "Blushing Flowers". It's an otome game that takes place in college, with three dateable guys, whatever. I think the current title doesn't reflect the whole point of the story and I have troubles finding a title that would fit it.

Do you have some tips on choosing a title ? How do you come up with ideas ?

Thank you~*

I find titles by either browsing Dictionary.com (it has a nifty "Word of the Day" section, which you could browse by month here), or look into the deepest parts of the story to find the underlying theme.
For example, since one of my vn's theme is secrets (and ghosts), I named it Things Not Seen. The other one is about accepting the outcome, and thus I chose Event Horizon, which is the "ring" of a blackhole-- the point of no return. You just have to think long and hard; knowing random things help. This is why reading is important: You. know. things.

My suggestion: Look at your story again. Browse word lists. If a word is apt but doesn't sound catchy/nice, look at its synonyms. You can always go with multiple words. Sometimes it takes a while-- it's okay; just make sure to not create your main menu before you finalise the title :p

If your story has a theme, it's much easier for your life. Science theme shrinks your pool into science-related titles; mystery into vague or death-friendly ones. You're not required to bound yourself into this, but it can help if you're stuck.

EDIT: I just realise one of my "easiest method" is not here. Sorry.
If you've browsed NaNoWriMo forum, you can find Adopt a Title, which is the fast way of getting any sort of titles. 1400 replies, each post has dozens of titles. You can't not leave without a title.

Egressus, you are a life saver -(*____*)-. After reading your reply, I tried to wrote down some words related to my story. And I finally came up with "Chasing dreams". I can't tell if it's ok, but I think it is far better than "Blushing Flowers". My heroine is having nightmares and each character aims for something they really dream about. I think it's perfect, I will google it and make sure no other visual novel has this title. Thank you soooo much for your advices !

You're welcome!
Chasing Dreams sounds nice :)
