Background pictures for you to use.

#1 Post by Sed »

Awhile ago, someone mentioned looking for background images. I've traveled to many exotic locations and taken many pictures. I managed to compile them all together for everyone's enjoyment.

I have pictures from St. Petersburg in Russia, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, China, and Japan.

You access it here: http://s141.photobucket.com/albums/r48/Sed_2007/

There are about 500 pictures. I went through and deleted pictures that were blurry, bad, poorly exposed, and with identifiable people, at least people I know.

I've tried my best to sort pictures into categories, so people can easily find what they want. I'll continue to do so as time permits.

The Mongolia category has more pictures than normal, as I obtained pictures from other tour participants. Some had pretty awful cameras. One even had a timestamp exposed in each picture! Ugh! Well, I figure it isn't something a little Photoshopping can't fix. Also the China photos aren't mine, but a side trip from someone on the Mongolia tour.

Feel free to use them however you want. If you publish a game with one of my pictures, let me know as I would like to play it!

Thanks.

You
Are
(a) God(send)

People and text won't bother me, I'd mostly just use these photos as reference to draw my own backgrounds.
I'm picky about immersion. :P

Many thanks!

You're mostly right, clouds are pretty rare, to the point where they're programming the rovers to automatically photograph them if they find any. But if phoenix or MSL landed and saw that kind of terrain, I wouldn't be too surprised.

Good observation. I had the same impression when I was there, except there are scrubby plants as groundcover and tons of grasshoppers. There are flowering plants, but they are very very small. I have pictures, but I didn't include them.

The pictures were taken in southern Mongolia in the Gobi desert. Despite what you think, it was actually quite mild there during the summer. Also the terrian changes rapidly. One second you are in plains, then hills, then desert and back again.
