VN Developer's Hangout

#1 Post by PyTom »

What do people think of holding a VN developer's hangout, probably using pursuitery's geekout system (which is based on google hangouts). Hanging out with VN developers at Animefest was a lot of fun. I'd like to recreate that experience virtually, as much as possible.

Apart from just getting to know people who make visual novels, it's cool to be able to talk shop. From my perspective, it helps me to figure out what to work on next, and to get a sense of where the community is going. I can't really do this in real life, outside of a few cons - I don't know any visual novel developers around here.

If people are interested, please let me know what sorts of times (incl. timezones) and days of the week are best, and I'll try to pick something good for as many people as possible.

I'm interested! I'm in GMC -8 but I have odd hours, so any old time works for me. I hope this takes off!

This does have potential, I think. I'm willing to try it if nothing else.

Sounds fun! My timezone is EST and weekends are probably best.

Just wondering though, don't a lot of VN people already hang out on the Ren'Py IRC and Skype? I'm not familiar with Pursuitery, so are there other advantages to using it?

I mentioned it on twitter, but just in case - PST evenings work really well for me! (GMT-8)

The advantage of pursuitery - which is just a wrapper that lets people book a spot in a google hangout - is that we get voice and video, shared between multiple people.

(I need to check that this isn't going to be archived, however - I don't want that.)

Sounds neato! I'm PST, Friday-Sundays are the best for me, although I'm pretty fine any day of the week.

Ohhh, I see. I must slowly work up the courage to show my face then.

I, too, am interested! I have much to learn about Ren'Py in general, as well as about VNs. I'm EST and usually free on weekends. :)
I'm an aspiring writer and voice talent with a passion for literature and an unhealthy attachment to video games. I am also a seasoned typo-sniper. Inquiries are encouraged. Friendly chats are welcome.

O yes... I'm so interested too... I'm free from Thursday to Saturday... though my time zone is GMT+07 so it can be hard to talk with people from US or Europe...

I'm GMT+1 timezone; there's a small window of time in which I can participate in things such as this one, though... well, I'd have to take the time out of other things I'm doing. I'll see whether I can make it possible or not.

This would be interesting, but my face has been known to drive people violently insane through indirect exposure...
