Update: 19 Jan 2016 - New Gameplay Video! https://youtu.be/_ub7cJA7I9Q

Hi Lemma Soft readers!

Today, we are excited to share with you a playable alpha for our upcoming visual novel The Mind’s Eclipse.
The Mind's Eclipse is a visual novel that explores one man's exile from his lifelong goal: initiating human transcendence.

Explore the CORE, a technological mecca for those who live and breathe the Transcendence Movement.

Meet Jonathan Campbell, the celebrity inventor and scientific prophet who builds the CORE and finds himself cast out.

Interact with Isaak and L, artificial intelligences that help you uncover the CORE's secrets, and the history behind Jonathan Campbell's downfall.

Experience over 2 hours of gameplay, reading dialogue, hidden messages and hacking the CORE's data systems.

Beware of COSy.
See here for a trailer of the playable alpha:

Since the game is very early stage, we are looking for any and all feedback from fellow gamers.

Here you’ll find a link to both a mac and a pc version:

Here is a very brief survey regarding the game once you’re finished:

Survey

The playable alpha should take approximately 20 mins to complete. And we ask you to be very honest when filling out the short survey. This will help make our game better!

Some Helpful Instructions:
The links are shareable with anyone. Feel free to send to friends if you think they would be interested.

Included is both a windows and a mac build. Both are within a zip file, so they'll need to be extracted before running the game. Download the file and then just right click on the file and tell your system to extract it. Once they are extracted, simply click on the app icon and the game should launch. Most modern systems will flag the game as being from an unknown source and warn the user not to run it, but that can be safely ignored.

We can provide a linux build on request, but at this time, we do not have a machine to test that it is running properly.

Let us know if there are any questions or if something is not working.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

Hi Everyone!

First off, we just want to say thanks for your feedback regarding The Mind's Eclipse. Your suggestions have been very powerful in helping us determine what to prioritize to bring you the best possible game.

Today, we are excited to share with you a new gameplay video! This video shows the progress we’ve made incorporating your feedback into The Mind’s Eclipse:

Interactive Environments
We show the player mousing over sections of the environment and revealing interactive objects. Clicking on an object reveals information, new dialogue between L and Campbell, or even the potential to find usable items!

An Interactive Map
We show the player moving from room to room using a map! This was the most requested feature during our playable alpha, and we can't wait to share more details with you over the next couple of months. Right now we hope to have parts of the map shrouded in a "fog of war" that clears up as the player comes near a room. The room will then show on the map, but still be "an unknown room". Only after a player has visited a room, will it show details of what that room contains to guide the player on a return trip or if they become lost.

Hacking Minigame Changes
Personally, we were not happy with the current minigame design so we went back to the drawing board. This gameplay video shows a new take on a hacking game that can occur during the story. Essentially, it involves pattern recognition and matching. As you'll see in the video, these sequences can start out very easy but quickly grow complicated. We think that this will be a nice way to break up the exploration and story sequences for the player. However, we are contemplating putting a skip button into the minigame since we realize that not everyone who plays visual novels would like to also play minigames.

Other misc:
We've finally settled on a noir art style. You can see examples in the video as well as our website. http://www.themindseclipse.com/media/

Be sure to follow us on Twitter. We update most frequently there. https://twitter.com/themindseclipse Also, come check out our development blog: http://www.themindseclipse.com/minds-eclipse-blog/

Please note that this footage is still alpha build. It is subject to change before the game’s release.

Take care,

The Mind's Eclipse team
