So... I can't believe I missed NaNoRenO............. ಥ_ಥ
This was the idea that I had for NaNoRenO... the one that I missed... damn it.

Oh well!
This will be my own personal one month belated NaNoRenO 2013 entry!
Now introducing,
"The Clock Ticks On".

"Have you ever wondered what it would be like if everyone knew when they would die?"

One day, without warning, everyone had a set of numbers imprinted on their right wrist.
The numbers were different for everyone.

At first people were just confused, but they soon realised that these numbers were an indication, an indication as to when exactly their death would come. It was a count down to when they would breathe their last breath. The world had changed. Some prospered while others were much less fortunate. People got separated into factions dependent on their death date, categorized only ten minutes after being brought into this world. A person's social status were greatly influenced by these set of numbers.
There was chaos within this illusion of order.

In this rather abnormal world lives two completely unrelated people whose lives changed after they met, and also changed the lives of many others.
A girl who lacks a count down, and a young boy trying to cheat it all.

Eva
Female
Age:???
Lived most of her life in confinement, having only just seen the sky for the first time during her escape.
She was born without a count down due to external manipulation, definitely not by natural means.
Eva has a general resent and distrust for people having been brought up treated as merely something to 'advance society'.

Zachariah
Male
Age: 15
Acts much more mature in comparison to his age.
He lives separately from his family in the F7 faction, the area for the lower class and unwanted.
Zachariah was born with a really low number meaning that he doesn't have long to live.
He views the system in how people are separated by these numbers as idiotic.
Doesn't care for life and just passes his days doing nothing.

(from left to right)
Adam
Eva's only friend back in the facility where they were confined.
Adam was born with an abnormally high number, it by far exceeds everyone else's life expectancy.
It is estimated that he will live over the span of six generations.

Jacob
Eva and Adam saw him around in the facility as well, and he doesn't appear to be one of the workers.
Most likely another confined, judging by his appearance.
Eva doesn't really get a good feeling from him, as if she should avoid him at all costs.

Constance
Often visits Adam.
Eva isn't too sure about what relationship they may have.
She at least seems nice.

Lorraine
Zachariah's sister.
Lives in facility N9, a close by facility to F7, but is mostly comprised of middle class people.
Does not get a long with her brother at all.

???
Eva heard stories about a previous confined.
For some reason Eva has a strong sense of familiarity with her.

The story will be going back and forth between the two main character's perspectives.

Also I'll be off on camp the next two days, so next update won't be for a while sorry! ><
And sorry for the sloppy everything, I'm heading off in half an hour.
...
Still in shock on how I could miss an entire month. NaNoRenOooooooooooo...... ಥ_ಥ

Thanks. :)

Been trying to complete the script.
Progress thus far:

Code:
Statistics:

The game contains 1793 screens of dialogue.
These screens contain a total of 13745 words,
for an average of 8.6 words per screen.
The game contains 9 menus.

I'll probably be done with the scripting in about five days.
I was wondering if I could get a proofreader or two that can read through it when I'm done.
I'd be much obliged if anyone could. :)

This premise is a bit similar to the world from the famous short story "Repent, Harlequin!" Said the Ticktockman. Still, it sounds like you have your own take on a world where the use of time is quite important. I will look forward to seeing what you do with your story.

@gekiganwing
Hmmm.
I think it's different.
Although both stories are about time and set in a dystopia world, that story focuses on punctuality and the severity of not being punctual.
Or at least what it seems to be about from wiki's plot summary.
My story focuses more on the fact that people are aware of when they will die and how this affects the person's life, and the society they live in.

Thanks for pointing it out none the less. :)
The book looks really interesting, I'll have to read it sometime.

Update
So I've taken a bit of a break off from the script and decided to work on the character designs.

So which one do you think fits best for Eva's casual wear?

I personally like A and D.
A, because the colour scheme is very warm and I'm a fan of girly skirts. Brown boots would go nicely with this outfit too. <3
As for D, I chose it because, well... I like sweaters/cardigans to go with skirts. It's just...cute. =u=;; Oh and the gold pendent necklace is a nice touch.

I would say B, others seem too... I don't know, fancy. B just fits her :D

The story seems really interesting, I love these kinds of games with distressing feeling!
