Just tell me which you'd prefer to see (and perhaps why) in a visual novel: 1 or 2. I have a hell of a time trying to draw in a consistent style, so I'd like to have a better idea of which I should lean toward for this particular project...

By the way, that's supposed to be the same character, and now you know why I'm asking. -_-;

The two styles actually look very similar to me, it just seems like the two are different characters.

That being said, I prefer number two because the detailing on the eyes and hair looks nicer.

I like number two because he has a slightly more realistic face that seems like it could be pretty expressive.
The other one has a more generic feeling to it, IMO.

I much like the eyes on the second one!

They certainly have a different feel to them, don't they? But, nope, same character, just under different circumstances.

I've always considered my drawings to be pretty generic. I'm guessing the second one is less generic, then? :lol:

I never spend time on the eyes orz. I'll keep that in mind, since people seem to prefer more detail when it comes to them.

Thanks for all your responses, by the way!

Wait a second. My mistake! You see, I didn't pay attention to the words, so when I say "second" I meant the one closest to the bottom of the post, i.e. #1.

Pff, good thing you mentioned that. The first is closer to how I usually draw my characters; the second I just sort of experimented with. Personally, I prefer more stylized designs--but the second looks technically better, so IDK. I just like to know what other people think. :)

I don't think it's a fair comparison. The bottom image is anatomically incorrect, so people are more likely to pick based on quality rather than style. (POV for the eyes and face are different)

To get better data, you'd want two images of the same character drawn from the same angle, in same clothing, in two different styles. That way, you eliminate all other variables except for style.
