Oh, the revisions this character has gone through. Qyll, the alien explorer from my (failed, OTL;) Ludum Dare game. Originally he was mutant cross between a naga and had head tentacles, now he's ant-like. Why? No real reason, other than so I can make jokes that his insectoid appearance has a tendency to creep out humans. Totally not because I started thinking his original design was kind of a pain to draw.

Qyll's name was originally Solumniarius, but I decided 'Qyll' looks more...alien-y...alienier...aliener...you get the idea. >_>

And I wonder how many people could figure out how to properly pronounce 'Qyll'.

These are just some sketches I'm doing of my current VN "Relativity". The characters are Jo and Geoff respectively, and I still have one more dude to sketch out. (Not my favourite guy to sketch, so I'm taking it easy for right now.)

I'm not exactly dedicated to the "anime-style" that I have sketched here. I might opt to do something a little more of my style of illustration. I'm not really a digital artist, so I hope these ideas work out.

This could just be me, but their hands and arms look a little small, and there's something off about the guy, but I can't figure out what. Other than that, it looks nice.

Thanks for the comment! :3 I'll look into your comments, especially with Geoff. I'm not very good at drawing guys, they're not my preferred gender to illustrate. XD I'm going to see how much I can fix when I start finalizing their sprite artwork. Plus I'll have a better idea of how much of them to draw, since the in-game GUI for our game is...quite unusual.

Here are a couple chibi illustrations for Rising Angels. It's going to be part of the character selection UI. They're pretty much representing the team dynamics. I'm really looking forward to the release because the relationships/conflicts between the characters are freaking hilarious xD

I might as well share some of my own. None of these are characters from a future visual novel but I will need to share some of that artwork once I get it on to my computer...

These were for a manga I did. Long story short it cost 1 US dollar (which later changed to 50 cents or so I am told) had reasonably good art and you could recreate the plot by putting on a suit and stalking your friends.

You guessed it... The Slender Man!

I redesigned the character of Alicia and adjusted the coloring to meet the new style of the game >,< This was her original design... The main issue was again with expression. She's a very bubbly and optimistic character but the original sprite did not portray that. Also, in a utopia where everyone is "perfect", why would she need glasses ;p She appears in more CGs in the first chapter then any other character... Her sprite and voice are also used in the tutorial.

My hope is for everyone who plays to be haunted by her in their nightmares! Torture is fun! ^^

Bwahaha, well I look forward to that. Very few movies/books get into my head enough that I'll dream about it, but when they do, I know they must be excellent :D

Love her redesign. I understand why you did it, too. While it's a shame you can't use your unique style, I agree with you that it's hard to see the change in expressions. I remember seeing your original sprite and having a hard time seeing the difference in faces beyond the eyebrows and obviously when the eyes closed. Your new style suits that better and it still keeps that great coloring that you do.

If you ever do try to make a game with your normal style, maybe you could try making a separate image for each emotion so that the body language speaks louder than the faces. Tales of Graces f does this in their skit images. You could also concentrate on changing the eyes to widen or contract them based on surprise, happiness, anger, etc. Both could work, actually.

The coloring looks pretty good! maybe some cell shading on the hair next? ;)

Me on the other hand....need to practice coloring more T^T

Well tried this photoshop filtering that a friend showed me to make pencil lines look darker and more pen-like....didn't look like her neat pics at all ^^'
