I want to learn flash.
Do you have any idea for a "dating sim flash game" kind of story? With 30 days limi to win the heart of a guy, jobs, money, presents, dates, kissing. Like pacthesis games. (I don't know if I can code the inventory thingy though...)
I thought of some ideas, but it turns out too complicated to be a dating sim flash game. Any idea? Maybe with the bachelors and their backgrounds as well?
Thanks in advance ^v^

There's pages and pages of story and gameplay concepts in the Ideas Dump thread. Use them as you wish, and change details if you want.

But regarding a stat-driven game in which the main character has a small amount of time in order to be paired with a romance option... the first thing I'd recommend is looking at the dating simulations which people have already created. Please keep in mind that about 1/4 of the games listed have adult content.

Other things I would recommend:

* If you understand Flash, go ahead and use it. But you don't have to. Some of the games in the VNDB list were created with Ren'py, and one was made with RPG Maker XP. Use any program which fits your purposes.

* How much do you want to emphasize gameplay, and how much do you want to emphasize story? The freeware version of "Hatoful Boyfriend" has a small amount of gameplay, and is mostly text (and comedy). "Heartache 101" has a completely skippable opening sequence with about ten minutes of story. The main game has some dialogue, but it's mostly about statistics, dice-rolling, and the main character's actions.

@gekiganwing:

ahhh~ thanks for the Ideas Dump thread. I have some wonderful ideas now. Is it needed to credit the idea... dumper? Now the main problem is how I'm gonna write the idea into decent script...

* Actually, I want to learn flash because of school project, so I have to stick to this software. And my teacher said that the student can choose whatever they want to program with flash. Some wants to make shooting game, movies, portfolio, any difficult and fancy programming, and even an rpg (which I doubt will be finished by the time given). I want to make dating sim game (otome) just because I love it. I'm actually helping one people in this forum to make an otome game using renpy, and I want to make one myself, but school is first priority after all.

* I still don't know about this. But just because I'm a stupid (as in, idiot) in programming anything, I think I want to emphasize this game in the storyline. But maybe with some effects and fancy stuff to impress my teacher a... little... (I hope so) I hope my drawing will compensate for the lack of the programming and stupid story

If you use an idea which someone wrote, then it would be polite to give credit.

If you want to emphasize your art story and gameplay, that's fine. Don't worry about making a complex or lengthy story, just write what you enjoy. Create content that you enjoy, and that you can be proud of.
