Kirroha's Hopefully Less Miserable Music Attempts Thread
EDIT: I finally got MuseScore and started digitalizing my songs!
Melancholy of the Soul and Heart
A lively version of Melancholy of the Soul and Heart.
Melancholy of the Soul and Heart ~ Sorrowful Dance
A slightly sadder version of Melancholy.
Puppet Without Her Hand
An attempt at making an oldish lolita-feel musicbox track.
Leisurely Classic
A happy, medieval song.
I'll constantly update this thread with stuff.

Nice playing. I like the sound of your piano.
The phone microphone sounds pretty bad and harsh/distorted, but it adds a nice effect.

Thanks. Haha how I wish I can get one of those nifty keyboards that can let me key songs into the computer quickly... For now, enjoy more mic-piano. These are composed for LumenAstrum's Soul & Heart: Replay.

OH MY GOSH. I love them. These. Are. Freaking. Amazing!
And please tell me if you want to work on a project! Unpaid, tho ): I was thinking piano would sound best for my game right now, but I don't know how to play the piano T_T

Oh I really like distant noes a lot. Reminds me of summer... or rather a memory of summer. The Heart one is very pretty as well. I didn't get to check out all of them yet, but I really enjoyed these two. Great work.

Re: Kirroha's Random Miserable Music Attempts Thread
Thanks so much guys. :') I'm just a noob with this but I hope to get my own keyboard someday so I can work with more computerized instruments instead of dealing with my own piano rough recordings!
Here're a few more:
Wandering Child
This was actually the tune of the first ever piece I've composed on the piano, but remixed. The old version was composed on Finale and took an absurdly long time before I stopped continuing it because Finale was really hard to use without a keyboard the same way SAI is hard to use without a tablet. This piece is similar to Melancholy of the Soul and Heart in a way and has the same sense of finality, like the climax of a sad show about a wandering lost child.
Wandering Child - Old Computerized Version
I made this as a midi and tried converting it to mp3, and this was the result.
Oriental Beauty
A simple oriental piece. Done with a pretty Chinese lady during the old dynasties playing on her guzheng in the forest.
Lurking Strangeness
Composed for LumenAstrum as well - she requested for a creepy, odd-sounding theme. And I was immediately reminded of my ABRSM Grade 6 C Piece...
Curious Oddness
This was really fun to do. It was really just mashing on the piano to make the oddest, yet catchiest tune I could dream up of. In my mind, it's probably about a village full of little children, who are really, really playful and energetic, but seem odd - not necessarily in an overtly evil way.

i really like 'melancholy' the most.
do u record live while u riff at the keyboard in one go
or do u compose bits and pieces and put it all together?
pretty cool stuff. =)

Re: Kirroha's Hopefully Less Miserable Music Attempts Thread
Here's a tip:
Imagine your melodies as someone speaking, with a story to tell. When people speak, they drag some words out, they pause, they breathe, they accent, they ask a question, they reply, they phrase, they yell, they speak softly.
You seem to understand this naturally when you're playing your piano, but you forget it when you compose digitally.

Yes, I noticed that too, but I just can't seem to do it without a keyboard. I'm not sure how I can replicate that when it's inputting notes onto a screen. Do you have a better software suggestion?

Re: Kirroha's Hopefully Less Miserable Music Attempts Thread
I recommended FL studio from the other thread.
But I mean, right now your melodies are quite rushed with no breathing room. What I recommend is that you compose on the piano, and arrange on the computer.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing, but it appears that midi in general doesn't give much space for breathing, unless I wait a whole bar in between verses or something. /:canyouseeitnow wrote:I recommended FL studio from the other thread.

Re: Kirroha's Hopefully Less Miserable Music Attempts Thread
It gives plenty of breathing room. The issue is that you're not using a direct arrangement.
Just arrange exactly how you would play it live. I'm pretty sure for the most part, you play with a set tempo with few if any fermata (uncounted rests/sustains).
Aside from that, you'll also have to arrange it sonically better. Rhythm, melodies, counter melodies, harmonies, should not clash. Try to not make it sound busy. Sometimes less is more.
