Looking For GUI Designer for Shining Ruby [UPDATED]

#1 Post by lilliesandcoffee »

SHINING RUBY looking for team members. :D
Hi there everyone, we are currently looking for a GUI artist and a programmer to become team members on our current project, Shining Ruby!
You can see the full WIP thread and info here:
Clicky.

About:
Shining Ruby! is a visual novel about a high school boy who accidentally inherits magical girl powers in place of his sister. He grudgingly fights crime in peace, posing as "Shining Ruby" when his arch nemesis discovers his identity and decides to cause trouble. Shining Ruby then has to play detective and discover the identity of the enemy before the enemy exposes him.
You can read the full synopsis on the WIP thread as mentioned above.

Team:
Currently we have two full time and devoted team members, a sprite artist and a writer/background artist. A logo has already been created which may be used as inspiration for the GUI if desired. We have already gotten quite a bit of work done on the art, with 11 backgrounds so far, several finished sprites and 30k in words under our belt. You can see more visual examples on the WIP thread.

Workload?

The visual novel will be structured in episodic sections, (Although it will be released as one full game, the work load will be divided into segments so it's not too much to hit at once.)
There is currently no deadline and we work at the pace that suits the people involved, since it's a free project and free to play.

We are also open to any suggestions you may like and any input you may have on the game, because this is a friendly project where we all want to work together to create something we can be proud and passionate about.
WHO DO WE NEED?:
GUI DESIGNER: 8)
We currently have a logo created for us by Atomic Invasion (many thanks), but now we need someone to help with the rest of the GUI. Despite both team members being artists, they both suck at graphics.

We will need the basic kit, eg. textbox designs, button designs, menu designs and also layout designs for some of the mini games.
The look we are going for the GUI is appropriate to the game style, but open for suggestions on what would look good. Action-y or magic-y are default suggestions, but if you think you have a brainwave on what would look cool and suit the feel, hit us up your suggestion. (Note: It doesn't have to be pink and girly by all means.)

PROGRAMMER:
Unfortunately we had our coder drop out, so we are looking for someone who can help us code minigames, a random NPC generator, and some point systems.
We will NOT make you code in all the script, or code in all of the sprites or image composites or the basic, tedious, takes a long time stuff. I repeat, we will NOT make you code that type of boring stuff.

We understand that coding for minigames is a little more than your average visual novel, but we want you to have fun with us. So we are not going to tell you "Okay, go and make xyz with rainbows flying from every direction and sparkly unicorns" rather, we would like to work with you to discuss reasonable minigames that you think will work and be not completely impossible to code.
Another thing we will probably need help on is the menu and the help menu.
[My partner has an idea for a help menu that unlocks more hints as you progress, and although he has an idea for a very long way to do this, there is probably a better solution.]

Sorry, we're not looking for programmers anymore! :(
