Wondering what people thought of the upcoming game Disgaea Infinite which is a Prinny Visual Novel (Note:Prinnys are most awesome animals ever made, dood) The game is coming out on PSN supposedly for PS3 or PSP, did I mention its a Visual Novel!! The only thing is I hope it will come to America in English cause I can't read Japanese. :'(

Nippon Ichi unveiled Disgaea Infinite and it isn’t a strategy RPG. Actually, it isn’t even a RPG, it’s a visual novel with a time loop feature.

Disgaea Infinite borrows the gameplay system from Infinite Loop, a Japan-only text adventure game Nippon Ichi developed for the PSP, and stars characters from the Disgaea universe. Laharl, Etna, Flonne, Mao, and Raspberyl are in the game.

But, none of them are the lead character. The story is about one Prinny’s long day trying to solve an attempted murder mystery. This particular Prinny gains the ability to possess other characters and hear their thoughts, abilities the Prinny will need to use to find the truth.

Disgaea Infinity will be on the PlayStation Store just in time for the PSPgo’s launch in Japan on November 1. The downloadable game will cost 2,500 yen ($27).
Got this from http://www.siliconera.com/2009/09/17/di ... -a-prinny/

Sounds interesting (I love Disgaea) but I don't know what to think about a Prinny mystery

Prinny murder mystery: Dood, who tossed my friend?!

A Prinny (プリニー Purinī), romanized as "Plini" in the The World of Disgaea artbook, resembles a small, usually blue, pouch-wearing penguin with disproportionately small bat wings and two peg legs where feet would normally be. When thrown, it explodes on impact. A common trait of the prinnies is their upbeat attitude and frequent use of the word "dood."

That's a prinny.

Who wants a labor force that blows up at the slightest touch!?

I always found the Prinnies annoying in Disgaea ... (oh, shame, shame!)

Actually, if my memory serves me right, the prinnies only explode if you throw them. Let's not forget that Etna is notorious for the way she handles her prinnies (And that includes a lot of physical abuse).

Thanks to Siliconera, I learned that localization of Disgaea Infinite has been confirmed: http://www.siliconera.com/2010/01/29/di ... -this-may/

I hope they can make it as a downloadable Mini, so I can play it on PS3. I usually don't break 100 hours on any JRPG or SRPG, but Disgaea 3 holds my record.

This also more or less confirms to any aspiring "game"-makers that after Visual Novels, the next step in complexity would be 2D turn-based menu-driven strategy rpgs, since it is easier to segregate the VN portions from the combat stages. (A regular old-school console RPG is essentially a single SRPG stage with the Move phase and movement grid removed)

The game is out! Anyone else try it?

I have it myself. The game definitely isn't trying to be easy! Just the first "case" takes several tries to figure out, but the mere amount of different scenes and happenings available is pretty awesome. And funny.

Even though the game uses many sprite graphics from the original Disgaea games, this time they can move, which I think makes a great difference. In general it's just great to see the old characters have some fun again, since Disgaea 3 bored me a little...

So yeah, I recommend it.

I got this as soon as I saw it and played it for hours. The first part is frustrating and took me several tries, but the second part was really easy. I still haven't gotten all the endings yet (but haven't played for a while either.) I'd say it's a "rent" and not a "buy" if possible. Time to trade it in I think ^_^

Fun, though! But where's the extra Jennifer fanservice? ;)
