To everybody who has no idea who Gary Gygax was: essentially, the inventor of modern pen&paper role playing games. He created Dungeons & Dragons. Without Gygax, no Baldur's Gate, no Planescape: Torment, no Neverwinter Nights. Hell, no Record of Lodoss War either; that series was strongly influenced by D&D. I mourn for the old guy; he was, in a way, a spiritual mentor to me and many of my generation. May he live happily forever in whatever spiritual plane he is now.

I never really associated his name with anything even though I sometimes read it in articles... but as you said, he's clearly a big part of most of the things I like in my entertainment, so... thanks Mr Gygax! May you roll a great character for the next time...

I was never a big fan of table top games, but the innovations there often carry over to other parts, and influence culture all around a great deal. So of course it's a sad experience to see an innovator go.

Here's hoping his next character has high charisma points to influence us farther next time ^_^
