I honestly hadn't heard about this company or its games before today -- which happens to be April 1 2009. So if this is an elaborate joke, please disregard or edit this.

On its homepage, the company states, "ROCKIN' ANDROID aims to bring you the best of the Japanese indie gaming scene." The company apparently plans to publish four 2d shmups during the summer of 2009: Qualia, Suguri Perfect Edition, GUNDEMONIUM Collection, and Flying Red Barrel -Diary of a Little Aviator-. Most of these will be digital downloads from $10-20, but at least one will be on DVD-ROM as well. The "language availability" is said to be English & Japanese, which may refer to text (not much in most shmups) or voice. Finally, these are Windows exclusives.

Wish they picked ヒトガタハッパ (Hitogata Happa) instead of GUNDEMONIUM - while the latter isn't bad, it's one of my least favourite Murasame/Platine Dispotif games

Check again, Hitogata Happa is included in this Gundemonium pack, which is what raised my suspicions, also because there is some sort of flamewar unleashed at the schmukmup forums as some people believe this is a fake or that they are using fan translations or worse.

To be honest, I still don't know what to think... yet. I'll wait and see. $20 for translated STGs and importing them from the US is awesome in the current global circumstances.

You're right, it rather reminds as some kind of a impossible miracle. I'm putting some high hopes on them.

Can't wait for the Suguri Pack, though. Two games, an expansion pack and a large soundtrack for such cash? Unbelievable :D

I just checked the company's site, and all its pages are online and working. Two out of the four games are scheduled to release later this month. So if you know that's not true, then please cite a source...

EDIT on July 9: Suguri *is* stated to be for sale, and pay-for-download sites apparently have it available.

Look at this, an interview with the company:

I find that insanely exciting. I'll definitely support them!
