Ask questions about one topic per thread, and use a descriptive subject. "NotImplemented error in script.rpy" is a good subject, "Tom's problems" is not. Remember to include all of traceback.txt or error.txt when reporting a problem, as well as the relevant lines of script. Use the [code] tag to format scripts.

Some people that played Re:Set said that the Opening Video format (mpeg-2) doesn't play in their computers. So I was going to change it to a format that plays well in most computers. What is the best video format that I should use?

MPEG-2 is a very common format, so I think you did what you could. You could include a troubleshooting section in your documentation with links to download codecs.

You wanna be careful : if you put MPEG-2 videos in your software, you theorically have to pay up. (Here is relevant legal mumbo-jumbo). I would nonetheless agree with sciencewarrior that most users should be able to see it, as it is a commonplace codec (it's used in 'DVD-Video', the leader format for non-hd DVD).

Otherwise, you could go for free codecs instead (the Ogg-Theora-Vorbis combo is always a good one), and put them in the archive with your game. Or as a download in your web.

Preposting edit : After a rapid check, I've found that Renpy uses the ffmpeg library, and according to the linked pages it is directly included in the renpy package - so if one can read the video, everyone should. (I know that, alas, computing is rarely that simple. But still.)
I'll quote the page by saying

When in doubt, we recommend using Theora, Vorbis, and Matroska or Ogg.

Ren'Py has switched from ffmpeg to libav, after the fork.

There is one potential issue I discovered in the way I compiled Ren'Py - potentially, it may not be detecting the host CPU properly, and using the wrong level of instructions. I think I know how to fix it, but since it requires a recompile of all of the dependencies - and a full test cycle, it will likely wait for the June release.

I am still using the 6.12 version, so is it safe for me to use mpeg format? How do I include codecs in my game so there's no trouble playing the video? And matroska doesn't work so well in my computer so I'm still in doubt...

The codecs are included by default, so there are no codecs to include.

Properly-encoded mpeg should work everywhere, but there may be problems if you use B frames.

I'm not sure how serious the CPU problem is. We have had some people with weird video playback problems, so maybe this will fix them? If anyone has a reliable crash-on-video, please let me know and I'll send you some new files that might fix the problem.
