Hey guys! Not actually a coding question, but I've been getting this error message that says:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

This error appears whenever I try to launch a game from the Ren'Py launcher, or if I try to run a .exe file for any Ren'Py game I've downloaded. If I restart my computer, everything works fine for a couple days, but the error eventually pops back up. I have no idea what I am doing to trigger it and just end up having to restart my computer over and over again.

Any ideas on what causes this error to appear and how to fix it? If it matters, I am using Windows 7 and Ren'Py 6.13.12 (I had the same problem with 6.13.9 as well).

That's a really generic error message; it's basically just saying something bad happened in some non-Python code.

Just to double-check: you can run the launcher itself just fine, but the games you try to launch from it crash?

Yeah, I can always start up the launcher just fine. Clicking on stuff like "Edit Script" works, too. It's when I click on "Launch" that it crashes and I get the error message.

This is sort of a shot in the dark, but what happens if you hold down shift while launching a game? (See http://www.renpy.org/doc/html/display_problems.html .)

Hmm, okay, thanks! I rebooted my computer already, so I'll try that the next time the error pops up.
