Game icon on .exe file not changing [Solved]

I looked up how to change the icon and it said to just leave the .ico file in the base directory of the game. I tried that and then checked it after building distributions but the logo doesn't change. I also have a .png file in there just in case.

The file has to be named icon.ico, and has to be in the base (not game) directory. If you do that, it should just work.

So, when I did that, the icon still hasn't changed, but my .ico file disappeared from the built distribution (it was definitely there when I built the distribution). Does that mean it's recognized the file but for some reason just isn't showing?

Could it be that your .ico file isn't in the right format? What did you use to convert it?

I used this link from the https://iconverticons.com/online/ that I got from the renpy.org page on building distributions.

I found that adding config.window_icon = "icon.png" works. Perhaps that will fix it?

That changes the icon on the window and the one on the taskbar, just not the one on the .exe file

It's probably because of windows cache system. Somehow, windows OS sticky holds icon cache in a same name folder. Try to build your game as a different name; like game-001
