I'd like to create a "splitscreen effect" in Ren'Py using an appropriate BG and two different text boxes underneath each of the sides (i.e. left and right). However, I seem to be stumped about how to do this - I tried to make it by defining characters for each side of the screen and giving them customized text boxes filling half the screen each, however, now I have the problem that one text box disappears as the other appears, and I need to have both on the screen at the same time, and, ideally, filling with text at the same time too.
Any idea on how to code this?

Re: Code question: Splitscreen effect
You'll want to call the first of the two text boxes from Python, with interact=False. For example.
Code: Select all
$ e_left("And I'm the star of this game.", interact=False)
l_right "You wish!"
