Seth McFarlane (Family Guy) to remake Flintstones
This tidbit of news really stunned me. Seth McFarlane, known for his cartoon series Family Guy and American Dad (both not exactly examples of subtle comedy), gets to remake The Flintstones? I must admit I'm a little bit scared now...

Family Guy > Simpsons.
Somehow had to say that, although it´s out of context.

I think the general consensus in terms of attitude towards this news is UNSURE.
For all we know McFarlene could do a not-so-bad, or hell, even great job at redoing the Flintstones. I must admit, I never really liked the Flintstones growing up as a kid, its brand of comedy never struck me as actually funny.
As for McFarlene's sense of humor, I tend to laugh and feel uncomfortable with what he produces. So if he's working on remaking the Flintstones, I hope he'll just have funny and leave the uncomfortable out and in the process make the Flintstones be something I can pay attention to.
EDIT: Or maybe he can just keep the uncomfortable element in a subtle way, like Adventure Time (man I love that cartoon) ... Which is kind of hoping for a lot, subtle isn't what comes to mind when it comes to him.

I feel the need to correct this though:Silvere wrote:Family Guy > Simpsons.

(Sorry, couldn't control my fan urges xD)
I'm scared that he might ruin flintstones. >.< I think it would go like:
Flintstone comes home. "Hey, this reminds me of when I bought that T-rex." There's a small flashback of a random scene.
I'm biased, I know, but I just never 'got' their jokes. xDD

Re: Seth McFarlane (Family Guy) to remake Flintstones
Sometimes I wish they'll come up with a new idea instead of remaking popular cartoons and other things just because they know they're popular.
There's too many Batman remakes. I'm getting tired of them. XD
I liked watching the Flintstones back then. I am very unsure about how this will turn out.
And you all remind me how I'm itching for new Futurama episodes! D=

I think this YouTube video sums up my feeling on the main topic whilst simultaneously touching upon the secondary topic.Taleweaver wrote:Futurama > Everything

There are some remakes that are good, like My Little Pony. Total revamp there, I actually remember character names and the plots of the episodes.VenusEclipse wrote:Sometimes I wish they'll come up with a new idea instead of remaking popular cartoons and other things just because they know they're popular.

I think people are a bit worried because there is a chance he will totally screw with it and *boom* there goes another childhood memory. People are very protective of those you know.
I actually don't mind American Dad, but I hate Family guy. The terrible flashbacks and drawn out situations *shudder* terrible comedy. I put Futurama and South Park on top of the pile.

...something tells me this is going to be a mistake.
It's certainly possible he might pull it off, but...*modernizing* doesn't always work. Take the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory VS the remade one with Johnny Depp. You will find people who like the remake but the majority prefer the original version. Taking a cartoon popular in the 60s and making it for kids today...I wonder what he plans on doing.
