Loren Amazon Princess RPG
I'm starting this WIP mainly to ask people's feedback for now, since I haven't done much except writing a bit of the story and I still need to get all the art done. I've decided to switch from traditional comic style to manga again. However I'm unsure what kind of style to use for the backgrounds. I made some tests with different styles using one of the characters (the druidess Myrth):
there could be another option, that is to use a background of same style as the characters (colored lineart) but don't have any example of this ready yet!

um, wouldn't it be easier if the same background different colorings? I really find it hard to choose since they are all different and good at the same time

Re: Loren Amazon Princess RPG
I like the second one best, personally.
I think the soft, painting and fantasy-esque colors compliment the sprite nicely.
The first one is too realistic while the third one is too cartoony and flat. Something in between would be best.

Yes, but unfortunately had to use what I had done from the various artists, since they ask $100 each background I cannot really make too many testsOtomeWeekend wrote:um, wouldn't it be easier if the same background different colorings? I've my opinion but don't want to influence people

@Jack--> What a provocative costume!
Is this going to be rated 18+ ?
Somehow I like the first BG better. There's just not enough contrast/shading in the second and third BG.

Hmm not sure about the rating yet! I think this is probably going to be my most sexy game, but will have also a "clean" version, so anyone can play it (the body of the druidess will be more hidden). Note also that there will be semi-naked boys too so everyone is happy

Is there going to be a version where "the body of the druidess will be EVEN more revealed"? (^_^)

I also think the style of #2 fits best; #1 is a little too sharp and 3D-ish, and #3 is a bit too cartoony for the sprites, I think. Still, they all look really good!

Well the romance CGs are really going to be hot (they won't be in the "clean" version obviously)LVUER wrote:Is there going to be a version where "the body of the druidess will be EVEN more revealed"? (^_^)

I also think 2 is da best but the sprite(since manga-styled) fits the first one

In my opinion the first one doesn't fit too well with the sprite.
the second one is the one I like the most, but I guess the last one fits best.

Re: Loren Amazon Princess RPG
I like the first one best only because there's more black in it. None of the backgrounds have clear black lines like the (shirtless) girl. But the only style that does have black lines at all is the 2nd one. So it has to be what you go with, if you're going for appropriateness. The best background, in terms of quality, is #1. More bang for your buck vs matching styles. Your choice.

Re: Loren Amazon Princess RPG
1) This one seems to have a darker feel to it, with slightly muted colors in comparison to the rest. There is also less color variation. This is suitable for a darker, violent fantasy I think. If that's the tone of your game, then go for it.
2) I especially like this one. It has all the feel of a 'magical adventure' fantasy to it. It also matches the style used to draw the druidess, since she is drawn manga-style, but with some degree of realism.
3) I like this one too, but it doesn't really match the style of the druidess. The colors are too vivid, and the style is too 'simple and cute'. I'm not sure if that would match the style of your game.
And those are my opinions, feel free to take it with a grain of salt. Or pepper, or scallions if it suits your fancy. I like ketchup myself.
Also, I'm surprised no one's getting distracted by the druidess in the foreground. Or is it just me? XD

Re: Loren Amazon Princess RPG
thanks for the input/comments I agree the 1st looks best in term of picture quality, but is also true that would fit more a dark/violent fantasy game, and I'm not sure yet the game will be like that.
